I was quite amazed by this. I had never seen or even heard of a Magnus Effect plane until Finley showed up with what looked like an upside down lawn mower. He's a very articulate kid and talked me through the physics of how this thing works. It doesn't just work...it flies really well...and he built it totally from scratch. Quite looking forward to seeing what he comes up with next.

There was a free plan in one of the UK model magazines for one of these, 20 or 30 years ago, I think it had a more conventional fuse and tail section though, and two rotors ( or whatever they are called.) with quite some dihedral, there was a short lived fashion for whacky and wierd sport models then, at least in the mags, no one ever built them though. I tried a few of the auto gyros, but they always flew a bit pants.
