You may want to specify which one. It is not clear from your photos if this is for the small 1/6 or the larger 1/5.

Hi Dash, the cowl is designed for the 1/5 scale, see the title.

Ok thanks for the reply. I am looking for a cowl that accepts a more scale size 5.5" spinner.

Hi AM, there are 2 ways at looking at this, 1 is that the full size spinner is 27" diameter (I have measured it) the TopFlite RC model Giant Scale is 19% size (1:525) scale. by calculation the 27" diameter of the spinner scaled down to 19% = 5.13" diameter. So do you go bigger in diameter to 5.5" or go towards a more realistic view (which TF did) so to use a then more available 5" spinner? So OK what is more scale? My cowl design is a direct replacement for the TF front end so that existing dimensions can be used. In all reality, TF actually did a pretty decent job of getting the P51 model looking more towards scale than they realised, even the Ziroli has it's issues! So I ask you, what size is more scale? Remember I have actually measured the full size P51 spinner! I hope this allays your view as to being "more scale"!
All the very best Cary

That's good information Cary about the scale size! I have a 5.5" Dave Brown spinner. Therefore, I'm looking for a cowl that accepts that, like the Spychalla.

Your cowl offers the removable top hatch, which is a great feature.

Regards,

Anthony

Hi Anthony, yes I know about the Leo Spychalla cowl, he does a good job which in essence matches the ARF version of the TF model. I actually use Dave Brown's 5" spinner as an alternative to the TF spinner! I hope my info is good for you, if you need any further information please let me know! I also make the exhausts, shroud, gun ports, fuel caps and now the wheels for most model sizes of the P51 from the TF right upto 1/3 scale! All the best Cary

Cary, I will be placing an order with you for a number of your items that you have posted. I want to wait until your website is up so I can window shop and order all at once. I have a TF 1/5th kit to build some day so I am not in a big hurry. Nice work sir!

Whatever choice is made, cleaning up the lines on the front of a Mustang and getting rid of that step at the rear of the TF cowling is a good move. Hopefully the TF Mustang ARFs and ARCs come back into production some day. The current search for a manufacturer following the Horizon purchase is interesting to watch. Leo Spychalla
