How do you think it would balance out with an SPE 40? (400gms heavier than the DLE30)

Hey p-plater,

Hard to say. Yet to get all the gear in my fuse to be able to starting judging where the CG is going to be. 400g is a fair bit, but there is at least plenty of room in the fuse, so you could get a bit creative with battery placement. Either that, or a largish rodent in the tail should do it

The standoff spacing with my DLE30 is pretty tight on the firewall (dimensions a couple of posts above), so that's another thing to consider if thinking about the SPE40 - although, you could always obviously modify the motor box / firewall.

Yeah - thinking about using some aluminium futaba arms (with secondary grub screw), but might be overkill (particularly when I've got the stock arms supplied with the kit). Will still have to find some suitable control horn screws for the HDs (only the grubbies are ever supplied with the new arms). I read somewhere they are M3x8.

The Zenoah is that heavy, but have not got to the balance yet, still working at setup.

Got cowl ruffed out and fitted, will have to wait now untill I can get more nyrod, tomorrow hopefully. Won't have a problem choking the motor(no choke on carby)

Cheers

Thanks Tim,

The SPE is a side carb so probably wouldn't be any longer than the DLE. Recently built an Extra for a mate with a rear carb 26cc and had to nibble into the firewall...PITA getting to the needles now.

Dolphin do a 77" SU 26 which would be more suited to the 40 but I don't think i can put up with the colours (very dull blue/white)

As for the small rodent, I have a small child that we probably wouldn't miss at the moment

Goodluck with the rest of the build.

p-plater,

It's 140mm from front of cowl to firewall(engine mount plate, not much of a firewall) so you will be anle to measure the motor to see if it fits.

Cheers

Sweet. Good to know.

I'll try to jam the camera in the fuse and snap the UC structure.

And then maybe I should stop taking pics and build the damn thing At this rate, Ghost will be 10 tanks down and I'll still be writing posts about how awesome the maiden day will be ha ha...

Tim, I have an 18x10 on it at the moment, still running it in, will look at something after, not into 3D so it it does what I want may just leave it. Just take the photos as you go along and then work with them later, thats all I do.

Cheers

Hi All,

The hardwear supplied in the kit is quite good, they even supply the allen keys required, just wish they would use better quality ones.
Setup the aileron servos and linkages, put the servo linkage on the underside of the arm to give an better alignment.

Cheers

Hi All,

Got some Du-bro Lazer rod. Setup the throtal and ign kill servos and linkages.
Fitted my fueling point and plumbed all the fuel system.
Waiting on Slimline smoke muffler, May just mod the OEM item and fly this weekend as it is all done except install the radio and setup(couple of hrs).

Cheers
