2 Stroke Mix In Your Vehicle??

I've talked with several people and I've actually seen it done. Since people use vans and SUV's to carry their items to contests, often times, there is extra fuel you don't want to haul around inside an enclosed cab. So, they just pour the extra in their vehicles when their done for the long trek home.

What's the thoughts about putting 2 stroke oil mix in your vehicle??? Hurt/harm/help??

I wouldn't think it would hurt anything as long as your tank wasn't empty.. I would be scared to do it myself though

Your car will burn it... its not so much the engine I would be concerned with, but the affects on the fuel system for fuel injected vehicles. But I have also seen it done when someone ran out of gas because they forgot to fuel up prior to heading to the field.

I have been doing it for many years. At the end of the flying season, I will dump the left over fuel/oil into my truck and burn it off. Seeing as how most vehicles have about a 24 gal tank and I add less than 1/2 gallon, it is getting pretty well diluted down. I have never had a problem with the trottle body injection system on my Chev PU. My flying buddy is Mr Goodwrench at a local GM dealership; I will ask him his thoughts on doing it when we fly this weekend.

I would think it could screwup the sensors, but could be wrong.

If the fuel injectors ever do get cloged up or you think you have a problem with them (exhaust starts smokin') just go to autozone, buy a small bottle of fuel injector cleaner, pour it in the tank and floor it all the way home, or put it in one of the higher gears for towing a trailer and get those rpms up high. It shure cant hurt the engine to floor it once in a while.

Having been a tech for many years, it won't hurt anything. Sensors injectors, or otherwise. You could run your full tank of premix and it wouldn't be a problem

I used to race motocross and always dumped the left over weekend mix gas into the truck. NEVER run the same mixed gas for more than 10 days in your planes!!!!! Once you add 2 stroke oil to gas the mixture starts breaking down. You can and will harm your carb and engine running old 2 stroke fuel!

Wow! This is news. I would mix more than a gallon everytime and take more than a month to go through it. What should one do ? Mix fresh fuel every time you go out.

You would have to use alot of oil before your car would notice it.. Maybe after prolonged exposure to the extra non-combustable oil you could clog a catyletic converter, but I doubt it.. As far as injectors they flow quite a bit of fuel, so I don't believe they would be prone to cloging.

I have rode motocross my whole life and I have done this several times. It gets so diluted in the tank you would never know the difference, especially when running like an 80:1 mix in 1 gallon. I usually only mix a gallon at a time, this seems to get me through a weekend of flying.

Re: 2 Stroke Mix In Your Vehicle??

I put it in my lawn mower once when it ran out of gas and I didn't feel like driving to the gas station in the middle of the job. It went ten feet and quit. I drained it out and put staight gas in and it started up after a little cranking to clear it out. So I don't thing it will work on 100% premix. Obviously a gallon in a car tank is OK.

Re: 2 Stroke Mix In Your Vehicle??

I put some in a honda Lawnmower and it smoked like crazy for about 30 minutes. But all was fine after that.

What is this deal about not letting the mix sit for over 10 days. Does it only apply to castor or does it only apply to synthetic? I have never heard anything like it before. Does averyone do it or do only a few people even know about it? I have never heard anything from any rc engine company about it so is it not a big deal if you let the gas sit or what?

I've been doing that with my lawnmower for years. No problems. Even tossed some in the Tahoe. No biggie.
