Thanks to your video Josh, I was able to try it on RealFlight a few times... then go hammer one out first try real life... your video and Leseburgs video helped me learn rolling circle/harriers. I don't know about the others, but when I hit a plateau on a manuever, I just have to watch and re-watch your vids to ease me over the mental block.
Hats off to you for taking the time and energy to share your knowledge of 3D !!

Good luck. Remember to put your aileron rates lower. You might even want to consider using low rates (20-30 degrees) on the aileron. That makes it easier to learn.

BoneDoc - Thanks for the videos. You're a natural teacher for sure.

I've just been working on the basic run of the mill rolling harrier, and what my visualizations of the physics of the maneuver tell me is that my maximum rudder and elevator deflections should occur timed exactly between one another - that is, for instance - when you've got the elevator pegged in one direction the rudder is neutral and vice versa, alternating.

But your rudder and elevator max inputs are almost synchronous with each other, or so it seems to me. I also checked out your rolling harrier vids on RCG, and there you also seem to be pegging rudder and elevator at almost the same time. Am I missing something in my conception of the inputs or am I just seeing your stick inputs wrong? Anybody?

Thanks again!

Re: BoneDoc's 3D Clinic - Rolling Harrier Spin / Weeble Wobble

There is a slight delay between the rudder and elevator. For me, the purpose of the rudder is to keep the plane's axis in a straight line (at least for rolling harrier type maneuvers). So to the extent that your rudder input produces that effect, you're good .

I just looked at Leseberg's rolling video as well, and his sticks aren't quite as synchronous as I am, and that could well be (and is probably) the better technique.

IMHO, the way to know whether your rudder input is in good rhythm is to slooooow down your roll. Then the imperfections will start to appear. At high rates, the fast roll rate can many times, mask my imperfection / poor technique .
