Mike I know you must be popping at the seams with pride. What is he going in for?

He joined the Air Force Reserves and will be working back here at Wright-Patt AFB at the 445th Airlift Wing. At first we were trying to get him interested in aircraft maintenance or loadmaster but he decided on computer IT support. I have to give him credit as that is great choice. He can do that job both as a reservists and as as civilian. No civilian job for a loadmaster.......even though it is cool. He has been working at Circuit City for a couple years and was earmarked by his boss to join the Firedog crew.....until Circuit City went belly up.

Ah yes. Basic training. I went through 9 years ago and graduated on new years day. Warrior week got down to 20 degrees and for being a Minnesotan, was unpleasant. The weather should be better for him this time of year, hell it would be shorts and t shirt for me. I am sure he has his face buried in a BMTM right now. Studying under pressure to become a fine upstanding Airman. Perhaps he is in the dayroom recieving a letter before light out. Or aligning bedposts.
60 seconds of your son frantically giving his address over the phone, all while a TI is yelling to hurry up. I bet you couldnt be more proud Mike. Hell, I'm proud for you. It IS THE American Dream. Wish him the best.

Congrats Mike. I should be back at Wilford Hall by the beginning of April. Good luck to Forrest on his basic training... and for his sake, I hope he doesn't have to see me in the ED .

Thanks Bonedoc. He should still be there until around April 24th. I hope he doesn't have to visit you either! But you could go look him up and punch him in the arm! LOL

When I was in Basic at Lackland there were Iraq's there as well. Our TI told us to stay away from them. He said their night time exploits were questionable. That was in the 70's. Amazing how we are friends with a country one minute then invade them later. Used to fly in tankers that refueled everything you could think of, including Israeli two seat F16's. Used to fly on Army Reserve Huey's as well. That part of my USAF experience was fun, the rest of it? Well authority and I didnt get along to well.
