I use Cascade dishwasher detergent. The stuff available today is no where as good as older formula with phosphates, but still works good; you may just need to repeat the cleaning a couple of times. Get a pot big enough to fit your part and fill with water and a couple of tablespoons of Cascade. Then boil it on the stove for a few minutes. I have even used some oven cleaner just before this process to get a initial start on breaking the crud loose.
The older (and newer formula if repeated) Cascade would get Aluminium parts clean enough for welding.

Appreciate the cut away view....interesting flow path for the exhaust gas / sound

Sure would be nice if others that have 'seen their day' were available to get similar views

I filled them up and forgot about them for a few days.

The first initial Dump out of the cans produced this,,,

That's an amazing result, similar to the one I got using Super Clean. Can you let us know the brand of Chem Dip you used, please?

I used Berryman Chem-Dip Carb/Parts Cleaner. Found at most auto part stores like autozone, advance, etc.
