Re: PAU's new 100cc Ultimate assembly, setup, and fly!
Happy New Year everyone! Back to work installing the elevators servos and hardware. You will need two M4x70 steel studs along with the aluminum horns, base mounts, and cones. I used a soldering iron to place holes in the covering where the studs mount. These hole are already pre-drilled so no extra work there. Make sure to use lock-tite when you mount the cones. Mount the horn half way down the stud and you may cut off any excess.

Next, cut the covering to expose the servo bay in install the servos with the output shaft towards the hinge line. I am using 9156's for the elevators with 1.5" SWB servo arms. Dubro balls links are provided as well as the 3" H9 titanium push rods.

Moving along installing the aileron servos. Unlike the elevators which need powerful servos, the ailerons only require 150 oz mg servos. You will need two 18" extensions for the upper wings and two 12" extensions for the lower wing halves. I use heat shrink on the extension to keep them from pulling apart.

Re: PAU's new 100cc Ultimate assembly, setup, and fly!
Four 2-1/2" H9 titanium push rods are provided and the installation is pretty much identical to the elevators(see post 61). I've used 1.5" servo arms but but mounted the push rods at the 1.25" location. You will not need more than that as you will have more than enough throw without giving up more servo resolution. Don't forget to loctite the base cone when installing your horns.

Here are some pictures of the stab install. Pretty self explanatory, two CF tubes are now used in a traditional setup.

Tom,
Non stop rain for almost two weeks. Some localized flooding and the ground is like a sponge. Difficult to get motivated to do much. Today we at least have some sun, temps a little cool. |

Re: PAU's new 100cc Ultimate assembly, setup, and fly!
Hey guys, sorry for the lack of posts lately. I got really sick a week ago and then had some personal matters to attend to but I am back on it.
I've started placing my radio gear using a JR 921 Rx. I also mounted the Fromeco regulators but have yet to mount the batteries. I am using two regulators and two Fromeco 2600 batteries to handle flight duties. I believe in the KISS principle, no power boxes or expander's because they are completely unnecessary on a plane this size. I am using a wolverine switch to keep the batteries balanced. I've also assembled and mounted the Du-bro fuel tank. It's mounted directly under the main cabane's on the CG. |
