Might be hard to keep the down lines slow enough.

Yes this was one of the first kits made by Dennis with his new lighter foam and new wood supplier. The foam alone was about 3/4 lbs lighter then previous kits. Like I said other then a little lightdening of the motor box no other weight saving techniques were employed. Of course the cowl was covered in Ultra cote and not painted so that probably save a pound.

The 27.5 lbs is a weight that was arrived at by weighing individual componenets. The assembled plane has not been weighed yet. so it may be a little heavier but no where near my 32.5 lbs Aerotech.

Wayne, Don McLellan, (aka 3D Donny), flew my plane and was quite impressed for it beeing a 35%. Nice smooth extremeley slow vertical downlines. She really brakes with the 3 blade on her. I love the baffeling in your new bird and that DA200 looks like a Continental or maybe a Lycoming!

What way was the cowl prepped to be covered.

Just washed down with soap and water to remove any mold release then Ultracote just ironed right on top of it. It has been on the plane for about 6 months and sits in the sun all day when out at the field and so far no problems.
