Just a thought have you looked at the reeds and to make sure they are in good shape and not leaking. They play a big part in drawing fuel.If so like you said I would try a new carb. The 246A walbro works great on any other 60-70cc engine.

One more thing to look at would be the flapper valves in the carb to make sure they are laying flat and not curled up.If they aren't sealing it won't draw fuel,a rebuild kit would solve that.

It's been a while since I had it apart, but everything looked fine and clean. I reassembled it with new Walbro parts and it didn't change a thing.

One other thing GP's ignitions like 8.4 volts, they don't run worth a crap at 6.6.Might not make a difference in your case but something to look at.I been through this too, I had two of these engines a while back.

I wanted to update you on the difficulties of hot ignition, at the end it seems that the problem was not the bad gasoline, but I think it depends on the idle screw too closed, I wanted to eliminate the burble, so I closed the screw a little, this creates during the re-ignition when there is no gas in the open, the minimum speed screw is open by almost two turns and the problems seem to have disappeared. Perhaps it is a feature of this engine, it must be accepted with its burble. I love the Gp 61 has a fantastic power and response in flight.

Hi

Is this gp-61 ignition version V1? Are there any problems with this "old" ignition?

Appears the First version was an Rcexl type unit, No Issues with that type, Infact many users have more issues with the current black model and prefer the Rcexl model

Yes it was the First Model of the Black Ign unit that Gp Used for the last few years that had kickback issues with less than 7.4V

The black ign unit type is used by GP and I think some EME, DJ engines did but now use Rcxcel. There was a revision to the Black unit that has come out start of the year that appears much better and runs lower voltage with no kickback.

But still a few users reported issues with the new black module (Kickback), I Feel the QC and build of the Black unit is not as good as the Rcxcel.

With my 144GTB i swapped it out to an Rcxcel, didnt want to chance the black unit..

Can someone give a definitive answer on if A123 is okay to use on gp61 now?

I'm literally about to order one but I run a pair of a123 2500mah and don't want to change them.
