As long as you keep it LIGHT it will definitely be a good choice. And even better choices however would be either the Hacker A20-34S, or the AXI 2204/54. The AXI runs a higher KV at 1380 so it will give you more thrust per amp drawn. The Hacker is even better running 1500 KV. I had the 34S on a Nikitis Animal weighing 7 oz. and it flew amazing. Good run time also on a 2s 730 lipo and a 9x3.8 APC.

Re: shocky power????

okay, this is what i will be using on the shocky yak54 when its completed: himax HC2208-1260, futaba s3108 servos(3), thunder bird 9A esc, and a Apoggee 1500 3cell its a really light 3 cell battery. Tell me if thats a good setup so that i can use that motor.
thanx

Re: shocky power????

First of all, the 1260 is meant for 2-cell operation not 3 cell. I would be careful. And no matter how light the 3 cell is, it is still heavier than the 2 cell by a fair amount. From the Apogee site: Apogee 2 cell 1500 = 2.86 Oz; Apogee 3 cell 1500 = 4.25 Oz! Almost double the weight. 5 ounces should be about the weght of the plane minus battery for this thing to really fly sweet indoors. You wouldn't want to use a battery that weighs as much as the plane itself. The ESC and Motor will work wonderfully, however i would strongly suggest you change your battery selection. The 3s will only hurt you. Especially a 1500 mAh one.

Yes much better at about 2.5 ounces. I would still draw caution to using a 3 cell with the 1260 KV motor. If you check the site it says the 1260 is meant for 2 cell applications, and the 0870 for 3 cell applications. I'm only going off what the website says and I would hate to have you burn the motor up. Now I may be wrong and they may only be suggesting that for proper efficiency to use a 2 cell, however I am not skilled enough with electronics to tell you no you won;t burn your motor up. That is somthing someone else will have to answer for you. On that size airplane, I would seriousely consider a 2 cell. You will like it much more than the 3 cell. You wont need all the extra power and risk of burning the motor up from a 3 cell, and you will love how quick and nimble the plane becomes with a 2 cell on it.

yea and i just weighed the servos, motor, esc, reciver, and a thunder power 2 cell lipo battery and it weighed 4.8oz do you thing that weighs too much once its all done because i dont know how much the plane weighs it self to add the weight together, so dont know how much it will weigh.
thanx very much.

Re: shocky power????

That sounds like a much better set-up. Just try to keep the plane as light as possible by using glue sparingly and not adding wood or foam where you don't need it. The plane should come in at roughly 2 - 3 oz alone if your kinda careful, resulting in a plane that flies quite nicely. I would say you want to definitely shoot for less than 7.5 oz. You just have to realize when building that this plane isn't meant to be the strongest plane, that will help you keep it light.

Use what you want but I think the Typhon 6 3D is the best all around motor for any shocky

Re: shocky power????

jesus that apogee pack is WAY to freakin heavy...heavy shockies fly like turds..

keep it close to 6 ounces and you will like it a LOT better...get a light cd-rom motor that will kick ass on 2S 450's or 2S 300's and go with it..keep that heavy shizzle for bigger lawn darts!
