Question
5” Center Bolt Carbon Fiber Spinner Question

Does anyone know of a company that makes a 5” center bolt carbon fiber standard spinner with wide cut outs?

I have two brand new ones (one from Pilot and one from Valley View) and I am running a Falcon 29x9. I am not happy with how tight the clearances are around the prop. Call me lazy, but I don’t want to open them up. I really hate dealing with carbon fiber and would prefer to just buy what I’m looking for.

Thanks for any help!

Ken, if you have a Dremel it will take you a couple of minutes. Really not much to it.

If you’re worried about carbon fiber dust, if you have a good vacuum, just position the end of the hose to collect the dust. There is no reason to have the fibers blowing around to be inhaled or to create itching / allergy problems. Of course use a good filter mask.

The only real option then is TruTurn or hire someone to widen out what you have now.

And I certainly appreciate the advice FGNewbie and Truckracer. It’s just something I don’t like doing. I’ve done it before and always seem to end up screwing it up.

well, you are welcome to ship it out to me...although I suspect you find some help a bit closer. I have a xoar 29/10 which is probably pretty close to the Falcon's hub. You pay for shipping, and n/c for the labor. I assume your concern is the spinner is digging into the prop's hub.

How Tight are these clearances? Does the Prop Touch?

You could easily with a fine grade sand paper , Like 320-400 Grit just rub away to relieve the areas, You wont stuff it up it s pretty safe method and wont loose the shape or curve if you run with it.

But i do understand somethings i like to give to some one else to perform.

Make and use a template.

If you have a spinner that has cut-outs you like, trace those and cut them out to make a template, then transfer to the c/f spinner... using the lead edge of each slot to line up. Just a thought though.

You can even go as far as making a template, and see how you feel about it from there. It would just seem like alot of money to spend for what might be a few minutes of work...

It would take me longer to study(as it usually does with most all this stuff) and map it then to actually make the cuts... and that's where you might want to spend more time before you make the decision to spend the bucks.

Or as you said get a buddy to do it, or well known modeler... They'll do the same thing as far as a template I'm sure. It's not something you want to just hack into though... that's for sure.

Again just a few thoughts for conversation.
