Yes, this could have been a LOT worse...

Almost back together... it will be better that new with a beefed up motor box along with bolted in alluminum L stock.

Here's a little update on the DJ144, idle seems to be better as noted in the video. The motor is still rich on the top end, but I want to put a little more time on it before any further adjustments...

The video and pic were taken post flight.

A little video of the idle post 2nd fight. The idle has definitely smoothed out and the engine wants to be leaned out a little. Idling a little high, I will drop it down when tuned.

I got three flights in this morning, temps got up to 340 but quickly cooled down with straight level flying at reduced throttle.

Running redline with non ethanol gas at 32:1. Its time to tune of which I will do over the weekend.

I will try to get some in flight video for those who've asked.

Does anyone know how the DJ 144 compares to a DLE 130 in terms of rpm?

I believe in terms of Rpm with a 29x9 there about the same, give or take 50rpm. - The 144 should have more down low torque due to the higher displacement.

I just fired mine up the other day, Took 3-4 wobbles of the spinner to get the fuel up, Two flips on choke and POP, two more flips off choke and away she went.

So a few notes:

I ran the engine in 10 min intervals @ 2500-3500RPM with 25;1 (For 30mins/1Lt of fuel) and it was rich on stock needle settings.

After that i leaned out the LS (1/4 turn)on 32:1 and got a nice transition and idle. the Shaking has reduced very much now as it was super rich, My idle is about 1800 but will lower to the 1500 -1600 mark,

Now there is a bit of shake at the Idle (1800 mark), But at 2000 its all gone and is very smooth there after. Much like the what the DA120 is like from what i see.

Mine is on JMB Cans But seam to idle like G8's Video above.

Throttle response is insane its like its Electric and gobs of thrust.

Engine does feel smooth now to run over as the rings have started to seat.

So very happy thus far and im sure will a little more time will be awesome.

DJ engines have the best throttle response that I have seen.Only one that is similar is the MVVS line of engines.

Here is a Quick Video of the Sbach.

Its been leaned more but still bit rich on the LS at this point, One thing i do find is there is a Bit of shake at idle around the 1600-200Rpm @ 3000 its al gone. It mainly Ailerons that want to dance around , But the covering was not really tight , So i have fixed that today, so that maybe improve and make them a little more rigid.

But over all running well and is silly powerful
