WACO "Nostalgic Look"

The Waco does look very nice. As always each of us would change a few things but overall they appear to have created a nice model.

As with the Pilot 1 Waco "nostalgia" comes to mind. I have a Saito 60cc radial in my Pilot 1 Waco of 100 inches. It does fly very well.

I have ordered the new release Phoenix Waco and have an Evolution 77 ready to go. It came out of a plane that the Coroner pronounced. It pulled the Westland Lysander pretty good. Pilot error was the nemesis.

Cant wait to see some of the fellow flyers Waco's and the engines utilized.

Safe flying,
Teddy

Saito FG60R3

I am waiting to order it until I receive the Waco next month but I am going to go with a Saito FG60R3. Based on the power my 61TS has and reports from those who have flown the FG60R3 I think it will have more than enough power for this bird. I'm sure there will be some hardware I'll want to replace but I hope the build and covering quality is there.

The question is : how big of a prop can swing on this model?

Honestly the saito fg 84 is happy with a 24x10. Surely it can clear that? Be glad to see some out there

Can't wait to see what you do with it - what weight warbird was the Saito comfortable with?

Its currently in a 33 lbs 96 lavochkin la7. Flies it very well actually and powered it better than scale. No ray English mod either. I refuse to pay 600.00 for that

But wait, I read on the Internets that this engine just simply will not run and will likely start a small fusion reaction if you don't have those mods!! Are you trying to tell me the Interwebs are wrong

Lol..
Its hilarious how people just lap that stuff up... The mods I’m sure make it better. However my experience says it doesn’t need it. Been running 15:1 sthil ultra for 2 seasons now. I did actually have issues with transition and Idle. It overall ran like crap in the mid range and lower rpm. Going from a123 6.6v to 2s lipo on the ignition solves most of those issues. Runs like a champ now.

Surprised to hear this. Everything else I've read discouraged interest in the Saito radial. 33 pounds is no lightweight bird. But the La7 has plenty of wing area, and so will the Waco

Impressive engine for sure, but that kind of performance in a Waco?

I mean it’s a 3 cylinder radial. 84cc and at that a very WEAK 84cc. Especially for what it weighs. It will not way overpower this Waco I can assure you that.
