Hi

This is my first gasser also.

Did anybody's carbon fiber tailwheel assembly come with a spring and a screw instead of a steering tube. The manual that comes with my plane shows a steering tube, but the plane came with a spring. This new setup that Pilot has causes the spring to bind up and does not provide enough tention to make it effective !

I bought my plane in December of last year from Chief Aircraft.

Thanks Scott

Unfortunetly it does happen. They are packaged about as good as they can be, without a wood crate of course. But who wants to pay that freight bill? Just have to put faith in UPS and something it doesn't pay off. Looks to be an easy fix tho, still a bummer it has to be done.

Dark logic get in contact with the company you got the plane of and send them the pics they should be able to replace the fuselage and claim for damages from the freight company that's why they pay freight insurance.

From memory (as we no longer own this plane) it had self tapers but you can always use silicone or canopy glue to secure it.

Is the holes for the standoffs on the mounting plate the same for the DLE 55 as the DA 50 is ?

Also if u are using SWB arms be sure to pick up some 4-40 stuff since all of pilots stuff seems to be metric !

Do you mean the gear cuffs?
They all will crack eventually.
I didn't put mine on.
I think Divad has more info on it.

Oh - I maidened mine last Sunday.
Flys very light on the wing.
Way off on trim though but manageble.
Think there may be CG adjustment hat wiil ba made later.
On the second flight my used/rebuilt DA-150 seized??
DA-150 has been sent to DA for repairs.
Looks like previous engine damage that was overlooked.

Real nice on cowls as well as it stops the fibreglass from cracking. I also add a CA hinge on the inside of the cowl then drill through it to strengthen the mounting holes (thanks for that one Rhino)

Hi

How did you locate were to drill your holes in the cowl for the bolts ?

I understand their are blind nuts in the bottom of the fuse but I do not want 3 different holes in my cowl just trying to get the bolts in.

Thanks Scott

What i do is stick marsking tape onto the fuselage in line with the cowl mounts then draw a centre line on the masking tape I then put the cowl in place and mark on the masking tape where the back of the cowl fits on the fuselage i then measure from that line to the centre of the hole in the block I then stick masking tape on the cowl and mark the distance from the back of the cowl to the centre of the hole then line up with the lines on the masking tape on the fuselage where the 2 drawn lines on the cowl cross is where you drill.

Does anybody have a accurate measurement how far back from the leading edge on the wingtips the CG is ?

The manul says the back of the wing tube is the CG but I do not have a accurate way to make a straightedge to mark the end of my wings

Thank Scott

You could just grab a piece of string and run it from the LE to the back of the wing tube, That will work as well and give you your measurement.
