RC planes in the Bay of Plenty

Hi all,

I am about to move to the BoP, NZ. So far I haven't been able to check out the RC scene around Whakatane/Tauranga.
Are there clubs or private fields in the area that one could join? Iam interested in IC engines and have a model or two in the 1.8m range, but no great experience with gas engines yet...

Looking forward to hearing from other plane nuts in NZ!

Regards,
Jo

Got your pager messages...

You'll have to come and fly at the SWMAC in Tokoroa, we've already got several members who actually drive all the way here from Tauranga because they prefer the laid-back atmosphere and great facilities.

We've got a full-sized runway (850m sealed, 1200m total length) and a club that's small enough that there are no politics - we all just turn up and have a lot of fun.

Plenty of profiles here - just about everyone in the club has at least one and I've got a fist-full.

The other club in the region is the Tauranga one where I think they're pretty IMAC friendly.

Hi

I can second that! I am from Rotorua, and went to fly there twice....very friendly and helpful bunch of guys. XJet helped me get my 50cc Extra up for the first time, and am now busy with a 65cc YAK, which I know XJet will help me again. Friendly and relaxed flying.

Cheers

Flick me a pm or email as a bunch of us in Tauranga fly everything from funfly glow powered models to 40% Imac models at Waharoa.
