Got my X-Cub

Hi all been reading and posting for a while on here and finally got my X-Cub. Everything arrived in great shape and I checked everything over. I did find a loose piece of plastic with a threaded hole rattling around in the fuselage. Anyone have any ideas if this went anywhere? Thanks.

Yup.......it's the "Nut" under the floorboard that the seat attachment bolt screws into.....(two seats = four attachment bolts & "Nuts")......they are glued-ed to underside of the floorboard......either you have an extra, or one has came unglued-ed.......

Thank you very much. I found the one that was missing and glued it back in place.

Mine is below the club db limit as it was tested when maidened. I'll have to look it up but I think it was the AMA recommended guidelines

I don't want a loud aircraft, I may go with the Saito FG61, but wanted the power. Do you think the DA60 is just as loud.??

I didn't think it was that loud and I am sure the prop I am using helps as well (no ripping). The Saito will have a different tone, perhaps more pleasing, being a 4 stroke.

I don't think a DA60 vs a DA70 would be any different in sound level

I went back and looked and at my club the sound requirements are

Engines must not produce sound levels above 94 dBa on the ground at 10 feet from the propeller Quiet electrics are defined as those electric models that have been tested and measure at or below 84 dBa. Sound level readings will be taken with the model on the ground with the engine or motor operating at full throttle using the propeller or fan unit intended for flight. Readings will be taken 10 feet away from the aircraft on the muffler side (if equipped).

If I remember I think mine came out at 90 or 91 db as there were no issues from the Field Officer

I decided on the Saito FG61,
since the motor never goes on sale, used my Amazon card and saved the 5%.
It shipped from Horizon.
I also ordered the 8" Tundra Airtop tires from espritmodels, these are gonna look nice.

really wish we could get the PRBush parts.

Thought I would share my setup

I am nearing the home stretch on mine and beginning to plan for the maiden…

I am currently at 11.4 kg total weight, ready to fly. This surprised me because my motor and batteries are quite heavy, as is my ESC at over 400g with the added capacitors and cables. The estimated weight per Hangar9 is 12-14.5 kg, so to finish 600g underweight is a nice surprise. I was able to save quite a lot of weight by using PMT 200mm inflatable Bushwheels and using a 110mm fiberglass spinner (both of which look better as well imho)

For those interested, my setup is as follows:

Dualsky GA6000.8 (180kv)
Jeti SPIN 200 Opto
Jeti AddCAP 1640 μF
Jeti MUI 200 (for motor and akku telemetry)
Jeti CB200 w. (2) Rsat2 and magnetic switch
Jeti MGPS
Bavarian Demon Cortex Pro
(2) Jeti 2S LiIo 5200mah packs for receiver and servos
Jeti SP06 with 3S 950mah for lighting control
(7) KST KST DS725MG servos for control surfaces
(1) Hitec D485HW servo for Schleppkupplung
(1) Jeti Spannungsregler Single BEC for the SPIN 200

Some current numbers (from eCalc):
Motor @ Maximum
Current: 162.00 A
Voltage: 40.83 V
Revolutions*: 6703 rpm
electric Power: 6615.3 W
Efficiency: 91.1 %
Power-Weight: 631 W/kg
Static Thrust: 21251 g
Thrust-Weight: 1.86: 1

In reality, I have seen 174A at 40 volts in garden testing. These numbers will of course be lower in the air than stationary on the ground. I suspect that the Mejzlik 26x10TH propeller spins a little faster than the 6700 estimated due to its thin profile, and that the akkus are rated quite conservatively in both capacity and C Rating. (I am using two 6S Hacker Power-X 7500 to make 12S)

Nest step: Schwerpunkt. Even though I am underweight, the plane is nose heavy. I will need to make a tray for my 10.400mah flight batteries and mount them behind the cabin. I will avoid at all costs adding lead.

My new Pilot starts his “contract” in March… everything should be well sorted by that time. Fingers crossed.
