Any chance you can post pictures of inside the model around the UC. Keen to see if any changes have been made to strengthen this area. Are you planning on doing anything?

Ill post some pics as soon as I can. The uc area looks pretty stout. Reinforced with aluminum angle brackets. The canister tunnel walls are fully sheeted plywood.

I’m not sure what the earlier ones looked like. This is how mine is. I purchased it in May.

Eme 70 Twin Mounted

Pretty easy install. I used the included template for the da-60 and it was a perfect match to the Eme 70 twin mounting pattern. Swb standoffs used as well. Cowling line up very well, no cutouts needed for the cylinders. Going to spin a Falcon 24x9 cf prop.
I made a tool to remove the cowl bolts, 3mm hex cut in half and soldered to a piece of brass rod. Works.
The upper left cowl bolt will be obstructed by the cylinder, so I’ll get creative with that. Planning to reinforce the firewall as it just looks a little thin to me.

Tailwheel

I am very happy with this arf. Very good quality for the most part. The tailwheel is the exception.
At first it looked pretty good. As I began to look at it closer, I found it to be a bit less desireable. As you can see
it came with two large holes drilled in it, one is actually oblong and, and the length is cut down to a shorter length to not adequately rest on the mounting area. The hole to accept the tailwheel pivot shaft is off center. The manual (yes I know this covers all sizes of this airplane) shows it being installed with blind nuts through an access area on the left side of the fuselage. Mine doesn’t have this.
I called Chief Aircraft and through our discussion I was told to just make it work. (which I could have just screwed it in with the large wood screws provided, hoped for the best, but chose to make it better) In fact on the one they have
on thier website, “In the Hangar” section, shows they chose not to use it either. Emailed Pilot rc a week ago, no response.
My solution was to get one from the Hangar 9 3.1 Sukhoi ( my first choice was the tailwheel off of the H9 X Cub, not available) and install it with the blind nuts through an access I will make like the manual shows. Looks like a solid install.
This is not a big deal, $60.00 out of pocket and a little work to make and cover an access plate.
But for the premium price of this arf in my opinion, this should be much better, and the customer service should be also.

not having the tailwheel from the x cub is a bit of a blessing. among other things, it is very heavy, and the supplied springs are very weak, making each landing a bit exciting once all that mass gets moving. it looks nice. pilot firewalls aren't thin, but they must be supported by all four sides. chances are your engine has some flex in the firewall right now which can be cured by either screwing or gluing on the top piece. yep, gotta be inventive with the cowl bolts! looks like a nice build!

The x cub tailwheel sure does look nice. I really like the scale look of it. I was not aware it had weak springs. A little weight in the tail may be needed for mine with the Eme70 and twin cans. Going to leave the rudder servo install until I get a basic cg check done, waiting for the tailwheel assy to arrive on Monday. Might have to use its weight in the tail. Time will tell.
This has been a straightforward build for the most part.
Thanks,
Dan

Hey Mr Dan,
Are you baffling the EME 70? If so would you please post a picture or two?
Thanks,
Gary
