The Stupidest Crash ever
I set up my 50cc slick so I can buddy box it because my Dad wanted to fly it. While doing this I made one fatal flaw, I used a standard 3 position switch as my trainer switch instead of my momentary switch because I use it for a timer. Anways I forgot about this after buddy boxing my dad. Then after about 10 flights I accidentally flipped my trainer switch. I lost all control of the plane and it crashed nose frist in a steep dive.

Nah....that's not even close. Years ago when transmitters were 4 channel, on a maiden flight I reached to give up trim on the elevator, and mistakenly hit the
on/off switch and turned the transmitter off. I watched in apparent slow motion as the plane made its decent to death. |

How about this one? 20 some odd years ago when I was learning how to fly, my instructor handed my radio to me with my plane programmed on it. So I am flying around and the plane started diving... and diving... and diving some more. He kept yelling at me "UP"..."UP"..."UP"!!!!! I yelled back to him, "I am...I am". "Splat"....the plane was basically balsa dust. He came running over to me. I was so stunned I didn't move a muscle...including my right thumb that was pushing....you guessed it, "UP" on the right stick. LOL

I've had nightmares thinking I was the only goof alive. Turned trans switch off while trying to input left aileron trim while keeping my eyes on the plane that was in hard right bank on lift off. Hit just as I realized what happened. My motto is- keep the stupids to a minimum and get high before trimming

Killed an 89" slick in the same fashion. My friend handed the radio back to me after few minutes of fun, I directly turned the radio off. Still can't figure for the life of me why I did that. That slick had a viking funeral in the back yard...Uggggh

More recently I started Zenoah engine fitted to an unrestrained Pulse 125, and what do you know? I had forgotten to turn the receiver on! The engine eventually started and I just watched as the Pulse raced across the field and crash into a fence post - it was a write off

Not any more! And never start the motor with the model unrestrained the 2nd time I had turned everything off to refuel, and then forgot.....
I'm a clumsy guy. I once changed the oil in a car I used to own, and on refilling with fresh oil I realised (too late) that I had not put the sump plug back - fresh oil all over the garage floor. On other occasion, I was using a circular electric saw to cut through some floor boards. I had not set the depth of the blade, and as I was cutting I commented to my wife that it was odd that water was coming from the saw, and I carried on for a few seconds until the light bulb in my head came on ! of course, I had gone through a heating pipe..... |
