CARF P-51 Air Retract Set

Sold. Thanks to all for looking.

Yes, these were onboard my CARF P-51D Hurry Home Honey when she went in a few days ago, but no damage as the gear were fully UP and LOCKED. The old girl did a helicopter landing after clipping a tree branch and landed pretty flat, so, that prevented any damage to the gear. I would describe these gear as excellent, slightly used, condition. In fact, after retrieving the plane, and 45 minutes had passed, there was still air pressure in the system!

These are very clean and actually only had 5 takeoffs and 4 landings! Came directly from CARF, but they are made by Sierra of course. Includes Sierra 5.5 inch main wheels and the tailwheel.

The photos should tell all you want to know. I'm keeping all the other air system components for the next build. So, you will only get what is in the photos.

And, I carefully pulled off the air lines, as opposed to cutting them off the nipples which is a rookie mistake. Once you cut them off with a #11 blade, you just guaranteed an air leak that won't go away until the nipples are replaced. Ha

I am listing this package at $695 which is 34 percent less than CARF would sell them for ($1056).

I don't do "receiving" Pay Pal so a US POSTAL SERVICE MO is what I like to see.

Not looking to split up the package or do any trades, just Cashola-Moolah-Greenbacks!

I've been active on the RCSB site and have a build thread for this aircraft. Not been active here, but been around quite a while.

I should add that I will, at least, consider offers.

Sorry to see this beautiful plane met it's demise. Watched the build thread on RCSB intently up until a couple of weeks ago. You do really nice work.

Hi Philip, the CARF P-51 is 100 inches span and mine came to 42 pounds. I am making an educated guess that up to 50 pounds total weight would be acceptable. These are stout, LARGE, well made retracts. I should have added a scale or tape measure in the photos.

Hi MINNI30BOB, thanks for the kind words. The whole demise was pretty much avoidable, but I wasn't flying. I was taking some photos that I never got the chance to do on the maiden flight. It happens. Lane

Thanks Cary. Yes, it's sad. I put LOTS of time into that one! ha. Lane

But, I have her as a wall hanger in the shop. CARF repair parts are just too pricey, so, hung her up.

How bad is the airframe? I might be interested in fixing it.

All. The fuselage is not bad. But the wings are split/cracked on top and bottoms very badly. The composite ,material is meant to fly, not survive a crash. New parts from CARF are about $1200, plus what ever else might be needed - one new servo, paint, and etc. Just not going to invest any more $$$ in her. You wouldn't believe what I've spent already - both time and money. Ha. She'll make a good wall hanger for the shop. Lane
