Well things are bubbling along nicely on the XCub....started putting the radio gear in and bracing wires on the tail complete. The supplied crimps could be swapped out for something more suitable (brass tubing). The supplied scale tail wheel is a work of art too! Installation of the Saito is next

Interested to know your reasoning for changing the supplied crimps for the tail wires.

Thanks,

personally, I would not recommend using the dubro horns as shown in the pix above. the spektrum nylon arms are not only the proper distance (5/8") but they are also the proper height to the support. I used the spektrum arms on mine except for the ailerons and it was quick install with no binding or other mods needed. as far as the supplied metal for the tail wires, it's really personal preference. brass is a little neater as you can use a small diameter and get both wires inside, and then use a piece of shrink to make it look neat. or just use what comes with it....either works fine. also, if you don't already use them, the multiplex connectors for the wings make connecting the servo wires foolproof and very clean. they are sold by taildragger RC.

Thanks for the feedback FG, I do have concern that the supplied spektrum arms may not be ‘stiff’ enough for this size application? I realise they have been supplied with a service capable of 13kg/180oz at 8.4v but the poor things don’t look that rigid under stress...I went with the Dudros as they are listed in the manual.

I understand your concern....I can share that with the DA 70 and moderately aggressive flying the stock arms are fine. I'm not a fan of the Dubro arms because the arm is raised from the spline and I have seen them twist under load. If I need more than I get from the stock arms ( such as the ailerons) I use one of the many aftermarket aluminum arms.

MC to all!

Obscure question...does anyone know where the scale fuel filler point is on the XCub? Wings or fuse?

Were you able to get these sent to Callie yet? If so did see give you a price as I assume you are reproducing the original graphics.

Received my landing gear from Horizon yesterday, now I can install the PRbush wheels. Need to check all the control surfaces and run a tank or two of fuel through to get my throttle adjusted and it's done. Just wish the weather work cooperate.

Tanks in wings, fuel filler caps on top of each wing much like most Cessnas, etc.

Thanks for the reply Truckracer. I guessed as much but was feeling hopeful for something in the fuse so I could place my dubro fuel filler valve in the same spot.

I did find this nice little review of the full-size version which might be of interest to those that haven’t seen it.....now I just need to find a spare 250,000USD....
