I'm sure all you "airmen" received this note from the FAA. That is if you have been obedient and registered. My feelings are actually summed up like this: Do I really have to do all this s**t just to fly my toy airplane?

From today's email:

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on January 13, 2020, will launch improvements to the way it tests all applicants for an FAA airman certificate for all certificated pilots (including drone pilots).

One of the most important changes is the requirement that all applicants obtain an FAA Tracking Number (FTN) by creating an Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application (IACRA) profile prior to registering for a knowledge test.

• The FTN allows the applicant and any certifying officer the ability to pull up airman information in a consistent format, leaving little room for errors associated with an applicant’s name. Previously, name inconsistencies could lead to returned files and lengthy delays in the certification process.
• IACRA is the web-based certification/rating application that guides the user through the FAA's airman application process.

Good grief, give me a break.....

Ony applies to actual pilot certificates like PPL and Part 107. The recreational test is clearly not called an "Airman's Test" and does not result in the issue of a pilot's certificate, just a proof of passing it. None of the test RFIs have mentioned using IACRA either. The FTN system has been in use for a long time, nit sure what the "new" part of this is.

This is coming sooner than later...Click the link and then click download unpublished PDF version. This is a new remote ID system because ADS-B does not have enough bandwidth for sUAS. It is similar in that it will require id and altitude reporting.
