74" Extreme Flight Yak

I have just bought a 74" Extreme Flight Yak. Its my first large plane after flying smaller 3d stuff for a while. I was just wondering what suggestions people have on engines for it? Im still undecided whether to go Gas or Glow, any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,

James

I vote Brillelli 46. That is what is going on mine, and many others have raved about this combo. Super light and super strong engine(and it's gas!). Many build threads(with lots of pics) using this combo can be found also. You may wait a couple of weeks to get the engine(www.brillelli.com) from Scott, but the engine will be perfect and ready to go. My 2 cents.

Hey Chris, what field do you fly at? BRRC?
I also have this plane and was either going to go with my ZDZ40 or my O.S.160fx but cant make up my mind. I was told to keep it as light as possible. My 1.60 would be about a pound to pound and a half lighter so that is prob. the best bet huh. Also my 40 weighs about the same as the brillelli. Have you found any threads with it done with a 1.60?

Re: 74" Extreme Flight Yak

i'm puttin a Saito 180 in mine, ive been told that this is a tried and tested method in the 74" yak with really good results as it will keep it light, so power to weight will be good.Alot of people also put YS 140's/160's in them

i say go glow and keep it nice and light which is what u want in this game.

Re: 74" Extreme Flight Yak

Hi Pickle,

I fly at wcrc. I am replacing the Brillelli 40 with the 46. They are now the same weights with a noticeable increase in power with the 46. It will perform awesome with a 1.60(look at tomg's vid!), but I just really like gas. There are threads for glow, gas and elecrtric on RCU.

I went with the 46 over the os 160 just because I am tired of glow. It is worth the weight penalty in my opinion. This plane has plenty of wing area to carry the weight.

my mates have bought about 3 from there and it works !!

if not YS then OS160 or Saito 180!!!

Re: 74" Extreme Flight Yak

I'm very happy with mine with a Saito 180. It pulls out of a hover good, not like a rocket, but good. I run 15% fuel, and I'm sure 30 would help too. My Yak weighed in at 11lb 4oz

Re: 74" Extreme Flight Yak

2 questions... Will the stock muffler for the OS1.60 fit in the cowl? Do any of you have pictures of the inside of the fuse?

thanks

Re: 74" Extreme Flight Yak

Would a DA-50 be to much for this plane? Seems light enough, and plenty of power. Opinions?
