It's a sad state of affairs when you can't speak your mind. But how true it is on FG when your asking questions about a company that advertises on this site. When you speak your mind, say what you found out about a product from using it, if it ain't 100% praising the product, you are then called a troll.Thats why people are sending you PM's.
Thanks for starting this thread,I been looking at SW for some time now and found the answers I needed from here.

Anyone want to see what's inside an Edge 540 wing by Skywing that met a tree? It's surprising how strong these wings are, I was surprised myself!

Same as an engine thread.
The skywing planes look really good.

I didn't realize they were putting carbon in for ribs of the wings now.. no wonder the wings don't fly apart the way folks like Jase flys.

Equally as important as the ribs, the spars on the wings are 1/4" Carbon Square Tube top and bottom that's doubled with wood and is bonded to the shearwebs made of plywood.

You can drive a tank over the wings and they are solid as a rock. My plane flew through a tree, this is how I discovered what the wing spars were made of carbon.

I'm so sold on Skywing (sold all my other planes, replacing them with Skywing)

NWRC deals both, and I've seen SupaTim fly his 103 SW Laser/GP123 like it was a rented mule--the guys like he, Jase, and any good modern XA flyer, sure test these things in the air!
I agree with what was said above--most of the current-generation ARF's from EF, AJ, SW, and even Pilot seem to be hell-for-stout, at least in flying strength. I've heard of various quality issues on nearly all of them, but overall, we're pretty lucky to have the quality choices currently out there

I have both EF and Skywing. Honestly you really can't go wrong with either! But a few things I like about my skywing 101' laser are, how light it feels in the air, the really fast roll rate and how well it tracks. It's by far the smoothest flying airframe I've owned. On the other hand my EF 104" extra V2 is also an awesome plane. But more floaty than the laser and not quite as aggressive. My EF slick is also really nice but again the skywing laser is an even better tumbling machine than the slick. That's quite something since the slick is no slouch in that department! Whichever you decide to get you won't be disappointed for sure.

Thank you very much. This says a lot. The laser was 2nd on my list - after the 101" Extra.

I’m guessing leaves, branches, and maybe a squirrel?

Carbon wing spars
Carbon wing tube doublers
Lots of glue holding wing tube in
Thick trailing edge
Plywood sheer webs doubled in the center section by vertical grain wood
This think is built like a tank but yet so light.

Wow. The wing is indeed very well built.

Here is a comarison in wing area and weight etc:

EF Extra 104:

Engine: DA120

Specifications
Wingspan: 104 inches
Length: 101.5 inches
Wing Area 1900 Sq. in.
Weight: 27 to 29 lbs.

https://extremeflightrc.com/104-Extr...ck_p_5282.html

SW Extra 101":

Engine: DLE130

【Wing Span 翼展】:101"

【Length 身长】:100"

【Wing Area 翼面积】:1739 sq.in

【Weight 重量】:12.2KG/covering - 26-27lbs

http://www.skywing-rc.com/index.php/...g/e/id/22.html

Sounds like the Skywing has 8% less wing area and maybe about 0.5 to 1lb lighter. (with the DLE130 - should be 8oz lighter with a GP123 V2)

Should be a a lot more agile compared to the EF Extra.

We did a couple of video's 2 weekends ago, one of which was on the construction of the wing, and the other is the unboxing of a 91" ARS300 (yup, my new plane).

Video of wing construction:

No I don't work for AJ Hobbies in Toronto, the owner, in the ARS300 video, is a friend of mine.
