Silver base coat for weathering purposes

Hello. Looking for info on what paints guys are using as a silver base coat over primer and rivet detail before putting down color coats. Would like to use Warbird Colors paints for the color coats but don't see silver available for the base. Have seen this process used by Don Rice in his videos but can't seem to find which silver he used. Appreciate any help I can get from you more experienced builders. Thank you -Bill

I've used Silver Krylon from a can over gray auto prime and covered with Warbird Colors (P40) and Chevrons old discontinued paints (P47).

On the P47 I used Bob Dively liquid masking applied with a small brush before painting wherever I wanted to simulate paint chipping. After painting it was easy to see where the masking had been applied and pick off the paint with a fingernail.

Also lightly sanded along panel lines to bring up silver.

FWIW

Bill,
Many guys over on RC Scale Builder website use silver KlassKote. Its pretty bullet proof and you can use whatever paint you want over the top.
