voltage regs

Can anyone help me do some shopping.

I am looking for a simple voltage regulator,

what I want to do is use a 3S lipo battery and step the output voltage going to my power distribution center down from 11.1 - 12.3 down to 8.2 volts

Anyone know of a voltage regulator that can do this?

Castle Creations has some BECs that will do what you want. They have selectable output voltage. My concern would be if they will support enough amperage for your use.

Check with Ghoffman. He does something similar with his planes. I’ve heard of a number of people using a high rated BEC for this purpose. I cringe when I hear of using conventional voltage regulators for this purpose.

I've used this regulator before. It's designed for 2 cell lipo applications but in the description it has options for custom output ranges. Guessing that's what you'd want for a 3 cell lipo.

I used it so I could use a lipo 2 cell rx battery with non hv servos. Worked great.

The Castle BEC Pro is rated for 20 amps, at 8.0 or 8.5V (user selectable). Normally you can't use 2 of them (or any switching regulators) in parallel, but with a Powersafe rx, it can because it is only drawing from one at a time.
