Hi Everyone,

I received the Kit from Dr G @ Vogelsang Aeroscale in Late December 19

https://www.aeroscale.shop/collectio...hw-bellanca-3m

Goetz was great to deal with and made it all super easy.

Kit arrived in only 10 days to me in AUS! All intact, It was very well packed.

All the Parts are of fantastic quality, Perfectly Milled parts and quality Accessories. every nut and bolt is in this Kit!, its very complete and only missing covering.

This is the late version of the model which has a few updates.
-GFK wing stuts - 600g lighter than the original steel ones.
-Straight Aluminium Main gear
Also appears a few small build changes.

Power to be delivered by the DLE85 with and MTW TD120K can and Running Savox 1256's Driven by the JR 812bpx receiver.

The aim is to start build in the coming weeks 6-8, I will get some pics of the kit boxed and parts for all to see

If any one has built one, Please chime in happy for any input as this is my First giant scale kit build.

In the Mean time i have ordered a nice pretty scale look tail wheel from Ohio Superstar. Its there 1/3 scale type.

The Kit wheel is the wire fork type and GFK mount with a 32mm ish wheel. (Looks tiny on the plane)

The Scale wheel size will be 70mm, Ohios is 72mm and looks very scale for the decathlon. so we have that on route

Also made up some Hartzell logos to scale for the Prop and Mocked up the engine for the mount etc, Ensuring it will all fit, and Tested with the cowl so will be great

OK Slight Change of Plans, Now installing a DLE120

I did feel this might be a thing, Once i actually test fitted the engine, I found that the only the very top of the fins just show though the lower mouth, and it hard again the front of the cowl at that location, So that means cutting up the cowl about 20mm higher then cutting out the :Landing light whole and trying to get air up to the center of the cylinder.

2nd reason is after some working out, The Da100- with twin cans that was used in the test model by EMHW is 750-800Grams more weight than my 85 with the can. and That Test modal had all the Ing unit, ign Batt the works on the firewall (Actually mounted to it) so i dont want to add that much lead up the front to get the CG right as the CG is on the wing tube and its pretty far forward on the wing.

With the 120 it should balance with out any needed weight.

The Dle 85 was brought for the Pilot rc 32% Decathlon , But i went this way So i wanted to make this engine work But dont want to hack up the cowl and add useless weight.

On a side not this all up weight should be about 15.5kg , Thats the aim

This looks very very very promising...!!!

Nice to see you "upgraded" to the 120cc.
All that hard work to have a nice aerobatic airframe and then put lead in the nose with less power....

Thank you, Shale be great im sure.

Exactly better to have more engine than useless weight.
Least i can then tow is asked too.

Now using the Dle120 ill be going with MTW TD80 Cans - Front Exit, Also looking for a Scale type 28x10 Prop, Appears Xoar make a PJB prop that has a scale shape so will look at this.

Solo Props Or Ramoser are other options but they get a bit $$$

Here is a Mockup of the Twin and Canister setup, Using a Da100L which has similar dimensions to the DLE120. Port spacing is the same.

This is all correct scale using the Mtw T80 front Exit Cans.

But this helps me plan ahead before i start to glue things and things i need to think about as we go.

I Did notice the Dr.G seams to not have any more stock, Perhaps reach out to him and see when more is on route, Or Perhaps EMHW Direct could be an option.

Have updated the Engine Layout now using the Da100L as the Dj144 was throwing me off lol

The 100L uses the same port spacing as the DLE120 and same depth etc so it better for me to work with.

Have updated the prior post

Quick update, The Tail Wheel has arrived from Ohio SS, Very nice unit, Look just like the picture

Have also made a few updates to the engine motor box design which ill upload once i finalize it.

In terms of Propeller, Does not appear the Above from Xoar is an Option any more.

But Have reached out to Siedel and they make some beautiful props and can do anything you want!

https://seidel-props.de/scale-props/

There scale outline but with a Airfoil to suit the engine power and Plane type.
So This is and option and will look further into this.
