Thanks Mike!! Trudging forward and cut the sky blue details for the wings and stabs this morning before heading out flying. Probably install these tomorrow or the next day.

Just a little tip with the cowl low pressure lip. I found that it needs to extend below the bottom of the fuselage to be effective, otherwise it causes pressure buildup inside of the fuselage and affects motor performance.

A bit more work...

Completed the tail wheel conversion. I thought this was kind of cool. The tail wheel spring that comes with the kit isn't as robust as the J&J but it isn't as long which works out well. I am hoping it can handle the more robust wheel chassis but time will tell. Ended up turning a brass bushing where the screw attaches the chassis to the spring.

Started installing the covering additions for the wing. Not going crazy, just two pieces to add some Sky Blue.

Wood pecker and lay it down at low heat. Then went over the wing with slightly higher heat to nail everything down and give the first shrink. The quality of these AJ air frames is incredible. I had a 35% Hangar 9 Extra 300 first gen. and it doesn't hold a candle to the quality of this Laser. The ailerons are stiff and strong! I really like the light ply plate support for the horn section. I don't feel I need to be super careful with the leading edge like other planes I've owned. I don't feel I will put my fingers through the sheeting. Nice, Nice!!

On to the other wing, small Sky Blue details on the stabs and then some servo installs. Waiting for a 40oz. tank. The DA 120 is very thirsty and I would like 15 minute flights to grind my figures. I also ordered aileron harnesses from Tail Dragger.

Man I love how you changed the scheme up a bit on this thing... it’s looking awesome. Gotta put my brain on the dalton and come up with something cool.

Thanks Craig! I'm having a really good time with this project. Nice break from a full long term kit build. Breath of fresh air.

You will find something fun for the Dalton. I would go full 70's aerobatic trad with it. White lines and banding. Kind of like the Carden I just finished. Kind of the Knoll thing or some old Cap 232. You have a good base for it. Green goes good with the yellow as well... Jussayin'

I agree with Craig, Nice touch with scheme! Your workmanship is second to none. I am also working on a laser, same size. I would agree with you, the airplane quality is phenomenal. I opted to tear out the tunnel and make it longer to accept pipes. It sure is easier doing it before its covered. Ill keep watching, love ur work.

The Laser is one damn strong airplane. You can just tell by looking at it's construction that it's not a mess of toothpicks with laminate over them. The great thing too is that it's not heavy, it's right in line with where a 35% aughta weigh.

The fuse was the most damaged part of the plane. Wings, tail, cowl, landing gear.. all fine and dandy. The guy already bought the motor box rebuild kit and new canopy from AJ so I shouldn’t have much to buy to get it all fixed up.

You'll be good to go! This looks like a fun project. Weld it all back, cover and fly. I do love that Reflex scheme a ton. It looks like it would be super visible.

I like it too... I had the 93” laser in the reflex scheme for a few yrs and loved it. I won’t have this one in possession until late June so it’s a longer range project, but too much fun to pass up.

You could use these colors on your Dalton. It would be pretty easy to do and it would look nice! .02 Don't make me drive all the way to Abaline.... lol!
