Just grabbed an RCS.

DIdn't really want to get back into hand flipping this season. Looking forward to receiving it!

Got it in the box and ready to ship in the morning.
Its such an easy thing to do...using a RCS as apposed to hand flipping and so nice not to go thru the ER room. And they work for the biggest of engines. I use one on my 170cc all the time.
I saw one at our field take some stitches from a hand flip last year. He now swears by the RCS....I told him before the stitches to use one. Now I dont have to tell him anymore.

Exactly, I just am at the point where I don't want to risk a kick into the hand anymore. For $25, I can't argue.

I just ordered me a Smart Stick, nothing chicken about it. Several years ago I migrated into larger engines over 60cc up to 170cc. I have a starter I use on the 70cc and smaller but have hand propped everything larger. I have never liked hand propping, they just scare the crap out of me when they fire up. The 170cc 4 stroker about made me wet my pants the first time it fired up. They scare me enough it made me change the way I flip, I actually do it like the RCS video, a straight line with the prop and step away all at the same time. So this stick should be an easy transition, and a guarantee my hand stays as is.

I received mine couple weeks ago and used it on my 70cc such a nice tool to have. I have yet to try it on my 120 but I guess it will still the same awesome job. Only thing I keep my finger crossed it never chips a $100 carbon fiber prop if it doesn't then I will have one forever.

I think we would have heard reports about chipping by now. Probably will be fine!

Honestly I have not looked through the thread. But that is great news ! At any rate it is better losing an expensive prop than more valuable fingers. But also would be nice if I could depend on the stick blindly

I have use the RCS on my carbon props more times than I can count.
Just remember to keep it rolling down the length of the prop and off the tip of the prop and it should not damage the prop. If you pull it off the front of the prop the soft roller may grab the prop...this is stated over and over...do not pull the Stick off the front of the prop.

My big carbon props cost me $250 and up and I have no worries about the RCS taking a chip out of them.

Your right about the 170cc putting the fear in you. I only hand propped my 170 twin a few times before I realized I was rolling the dice! Never again. It is soooo easy with the RCS and when you stand to the side....there is no fear at all any more.

I've been using a sawn off broom stick with MTB grips slipped over it for a chicken stick for 5 years now and never chipped a more fragile wooden prop. I think carbon props are very safe with the RCS.
