Ben still owned the company. I understand employee's makes a company and especially the person involved with the Slick, but it was still Ben's company.

Hey. I’ve always wondered. Why the two sets of wings? Foam and built up. If one or the other better for IMAC or 3-D? I’ve also heard that the first release was flawed so the sent a second set to anyone that bought one. Question is-which set? Lol

PAU did the same thing with the V1 Edge 540,They were build up but later replaced for a Foam core wing.

If i recall there Might have been a Flaw ( Few fails) or They were just flown bit to hard for the design But PAU did do foam after that on that model.

So the Foam normally give more strength at the expense of a little more weight.

AFAIK, the original models were built in Taiwan and were pretty heavy.
At some point, Tom had a disagreement with the factory and went to a Chinese manufacturer. The models were a chunk lighter which leads me to believe that anything with a foam wing was an earlier model as the Chinese stuff was lighter. You can tell an early model from a later one by the trim scheme.

Yeah. That all makes sense. I’ve always known foam to be slightly heavier but stronger. I’m guessing that’s why the Lanier kit for the same airframe was sheeted foam core. Back in that day there wasn’t much use of carbon fiber. And it was a stronger alternative for the big birds.
