Futaba Receivers 2,3,6 and 7 series????

What are the differences in these series?

2xxx
3xxx
6xxx
7xxx

I don't see any explanation other than a couple that are for park flyers. I know you wouldn't risk a $5,000 plane on one of those, but the question is why? Other than features, are the lower numbers inferior in quality?

I have a new 18SZ 70th and I have a few older glow .40-.60 planes that need four to six channels. I figured the 7006 would be a good choice, but wondered if dropping down in price would be wise. What receivers do you recommend?

So the 2xxx series is basic FHSS and is best suited for any style of plane, like you nitro planes. I person ally use and would use again recievers like the 2006 for any style airplane you previously mentioned. The 3xxx series is what they call telemetry FHSS and allows you to utilize the functions of their telemetry, like built in receiver voltage sent back to your transmitter in the upper left corner on the main screen. The 6xxx series is a different protocol called FASST and this is a solid protocol, it just lacks telemetry like the 2xxx series. The 7xxx series are personally my favorite as it uses the FASST protocol AND also has telemetry like the 3xxx receivers.

I personally use various receivers from all of the series and they all work perfectly for me, so my advice is if you like telemetry then go with the 3xxx or if you don't find telemetry very useful for your application I'd suggest the 6xxx series. That's just what I would personally so, any of them would work perfectly in your situation.

Mikes, breakdown was about as good as it gets.

The only things I'll add is that the latency of the fhss receivers( 2xxx and 3xxx) is a little higher, so they are a tad slower. That said, the quality of the link is as good as the fasst and fasstesst (6xxx and 7xxx) receivers.

The other thing to note, is the last number (or numbers) e.g. xxx8 xx14, tells you how many PWM channels the receiver has, in the above example 8 or 14 channels.

16SZ/18SZ/18MZ-WC do all of the above.

8J/10J/12K only do SFHSS & TFHSS
