Re: CARF SU-31

Hi together,

for me, the new ailerons are really important. The last setup of my 3m Yak - 170 on pipes and 3bladed prop - was already close to the perfect Imac-plane.

But when I flew the 2.6 edge with the center hinged ailerons, I immediatly knew that I must have that on a 40% for some crazy freestyle maneuvers.

The prototype which I flew at the CARF-Meeting was a bit heavy with the 4cylinder, but anyways it was a lot of fun doing 3D. It is floaty, it has a lot of fuselage side-area and rolls like *%&!... Also really neutral in any situation. Noiiiiice. So I can't wait how it performs with a lighter (but not less powerful) setup with the 170 on pipes.

I'm already pretty busy to get it in the air. I posted the actual progress at the blog of my website: www.slow-flyer.com

Got a special idea concerning the pilot this time, ha ha

Cheers,

Sascha

Hey Jason,

My good friend snapped a ton of pics when you and Ryan were flying the noon demo's on Wednesday. He took a couple hundred and is going through them. He is gonna send me the pics on CD because there are so many...I saw a few really good ones that day. When I get it the disc I can send you a copy or post a few pics if like..either way we will have some soon.

Re: CARF SU-31

I don't know how stand out in freestyle it was cause I only flew it on the normal line. As far as pattern stuff... wow. And as Andreas told everyone while we were doing demos... it rolls faster than I can keep up with. But watching Ryan (half my age) he had no problem keeping up with it...lol. Damn kids It does do some wild tumble combo that Ryan figured out. Not sure how to explain it, but it was like a tumble-twist something.

Paul, post a couple when you get them please. I was a skeptic seeing it on the website, but seeing it in person... pics don't do it justice.

It's a shame, let me know the difference in price between a 2,6mt and a 3mt. The new Edge cost 1400 Eu, the SU 31 3000 Eu. What kind of logic behind. In addition, considering the economical environment, why be so rigid and do not do a promo price for the product launch?
I think here in Italy none can effort this aircraft,it's a pity but I'm not going to waste my money in this way. Again this price is not logic, specially looking at the us price which is lower than the European one. No advantage from the currency, this is ridiculous!

Re: CARF SU-31

I know the edge is around 1400, and the new SU is around 3000, but they are different planes, the SU is much much bigger than any other 118" plane out there, infact the fuselage seems bigger than the fuselage of the 3 meter Yak55SP.
The composite plane are NOT cheap. For example the new Krill is about 2800 euros, and 200 euros of difference on a plane with a final price well over 4-5000 euros are nothing.
I dont know if they are overpriced, but what in this game is not overpriced? So if someone like and can afford the new SU is free to buy one.
