Over the past five years Flyinggiants.com has grown from a few thousand flying buddies to almost sixty thousand members. During this growth we have learned a lot, we have done many things right and we made a few mistakes. But over-all I think we did a great job and made FG a home for many people.

With this much growth, some of our moderation techniques we have employed in the past have become a bit antiquated. So, after much discussion we have decided to adopt a new rules/infraction system that utilizes "Professional Moderators".

Why this system works so well is:
- These Moderators do not know anyone.
- They are not part of the hobby.
- They simply understand the rules, and know if someone is breaking them.

This rule/infraction system has shown itself to be very effective way to moderate a website of this size.

I'm almost positive that for 99.9% of you, no noticeable change will be evident. Most of you are "law abiding citizens" , so it will be business as usual for almost everyone. A few guys may have to change the way they act on FG if they would like to remain members, but their ability to remain in this community is completely up to them. Remember with this system, basically the only person who can ban you is YOU! (by breaking rules.)

How to Report a Rule Violation
Each post at FlyingGiants has a "Report This Post to a Moderator" link. Simply click on that link to report a violation of the rules. If you report a post and do not see any action within a reasonable period of time, you can escalate the issue by posting a thread in Site Suggestions / Complaints.

Also you can hit the "lame post" button.
