Exhaust System Types - Power & Throttle Transition

Hoping that someone with more experience than I can comment on the following?

Out of the choices below, I would like to know the order of which would produce the highest HP, and which would have best transition. The engine would be a DA-50.

Header & tuned pipe
Header & canister
Pitts muffler
Side mount muffler (stock)

Thanks.

Stock side dumps are the best for all round power and transition.Tuned pipes will make the best power but you loose transition and throttle response. You will also need to play around with header length to get the best transition and power but will never be as quick and clean response as a side dump.It also depends on what type of flying you do.IMAC you might like a tuned pipe better for top speed and don't need the better transition. If you like to hover the pipe will always seemed to be just coming on the pipe when your trying to keep the plane stationary. But if you need to meet noise requirements I would pick the pipe over a canister.Your just adding weight with out a power increase.

As stated, Tuned pipes are the only choice you listed that will increase your power output. A Pitts muffler will actually ( In most cases) reduce your power. If you are flying in a noise sensitive area I suggest our Pro Flow 3-D Canisters. No loss of power and very smooth transition while offering a nice quiet sound.

Thanks for the replies, very informative.

Looks like the side dump will be the best choice for me.

Thanks again.
