50CC size Extra 300 ELECTRIC conversion

I am attempting to do an electric conversion of the 50CC size Extra 300 by OMP.

Problems I'm currently facing, when using the AXI 5345/16 motor.

1.) According to what I've read, AXI does not recommend using the radial prop adapter for large 3D style planes, so I need a good mounting solution which protects the motor in front and rear.
- After some research, I've decided to use the Hacker A60 motor mount, which will hold the motor from the front and rear. Unfortunately, the bearing that comes with the mount is for an 8mm shaft, while the AXI radial adapter has a 12mm shaft.

2.) I need an 8mm prop adapter for the engine that will connect to the 5mm screw for the nose cone. Since the AXI did not come with one.

3.) Does anyone know of an American company that supports AXI motors?

Any information provided would be much appreciated.

Hobby Lobby should be able to help with this. After that i'm not to sure. Is the set up a normal thing to do with an engine that size? if it is then some one some were would have to make one.

I will be looking for one to see who may have one

Re: 50CC size Extra 300 ELECTRIC conversion

Hobby Lobby has an AMM500 mount that will work, which is also out of stock. The required prop adapter is not sold separately, rather, it only comes with the engine.

Since i bought this motor from OMP at the Ohio show, I'm kind of stuck on ideas. I've ordered the E-Flite 110/160 size prop adapter in hopes that it will work for the AXI 53xx motor. I've ordered the Hacker A60 motor mount in hopes the AXI motor fits.

So far, I've discovered that Hacker is much preferred to AXI motors as every thread I read documents the dropping of the AXI in exchange for a Hacker. Worst case scenario, I sell the AXI...but that's the last ditch effort!

With the amount of power these motors make (Axi recomends gas props only) I would be concerned with mounting the prop on a collet or set screw adaptor like the smaller electrics. That is why I used the radial adapter mount. I have my motor mounted on a 89' AJ Slick and have over 50 3D flights with no problems. Made a custom X mount and stand offs.

3D Hobby Shop 89" AJ Slick (Elecrtic) (6 min 43 sec)

Sorry, I don't. Several manufactures make a nice mounting system.
