Re: sabre 47 arf

cool, sure
-mount the 82 back on the rails with just the thrust washer for prop/fuse clearence..
-tuck the rx battery back in the wing toward the TE..
-don't use the included pushrods, ballinks.. i don't know why this factory can not get these right
-use MG servos in the tail, only need ~90oz torque
-center the rons with the thrust line (looking at them from the tail even with the stab) then reflex them up a hair from center, maybe 1/8" this will make KE cleaner
thanks

Re: sabre 47 arf

hey thanx, I am swapping servos, will have 5645 mgs on all servos, I also run a double battery 1100 mahs, bat share reduntant system from smart-fly, and 2 switches because I lost planes to switches and battery failures in the past. You know the 55 ax muffler + engine weight is within 1 oz of the saito 82 muffler + engine. It sounds like you are pushing the weight back too much??? is that the same set up with the 55 ax and what do you recommend on cg?? I do have a lot of 3d flying time and enjoy flying aft heavy, so should I stick wiht 6" or move further back.. Sorry but don' t understand your next comment, then reflex them up a hair from center, maybe 1/8" this will make KE cleaner P l e a s e explain what you mean by reflexing and KE cleaner. the tips are appreciated

Re: sabre 47 arf

with all the gear back like i said the CG is right on neutral (inverted and upright at 1/2 throttle is hards off and level) sorry right now i'm not sure exacly where it is in Inches, it is very close to where canopy meets the fuse.. i'm sure you will be close enough to fly it, these planes are not sensitive to CG i never really measure the CG just fly and make adjustements as needed, everybody likes a slightly different cg feel..

normally you would set the ailerons to zero with the thrust line, so they line up parallel with the imaginary line that runs from the engine to the tail.. but you might see it pulls to the canopy in Knife Edge (KE) with the neural CG so pointing the ailerons up just a little using subtrim will help that and not effect the flying in any other way (actually it makes upright harriers even more smooth) let me know if this helps..

Re: sabre 47 arf

I recently met someone with the Sabre 47 and they highly recommended it. I have 3 questions that I hoped someone could answer for me:

1. I checked Value Hobby and they are on back order. Does anyone know when they will be back in stock? Or other places that may sell them?

2. What's the recommended (or maybe I should say, most popular) electric setup (motor, ESC, & battery). Are there any mods (motor mounts, battery location issues, etc) required for electrics since it seems to be designed for 4-stroke engines?

3. I haven't really been able to find any good videos on the net since "Sabre" is too often used for a fighter plane. Any good ones you'd suggest?

Thanks,

Alan

Looks like I got my first one answered from Value Hobby: "It will arrive very soon. I think within 2 weeks"

Alex from value hobby lives about 10 minutes from me. He's a great guy who pretty much runs the business solo. Great stuff.

The Sabre 47 is designed for just about anything. Gary Caruso (the designer) has seen them set up with just about everything out there. Here's a good thread on all kinds of E setups:
http://www.theprofilebrotherhood.com...hp?f=2&t=26221
It's a long thread but go to into a ways and there's a bunch of good information about the motors Alex carries. G32 or G40 are the ticket. Which one depends on what you're looking for. And "Spaz" is Gary.

Spaz. I am building today. My pan is to use my os fS70 Primarily because it is available easily but also for sound. I have an evo 52 and OS 65 AX available.. I am sure the 72 will have enough power with a 14x4.. But this is my first venture into a wood /glow profile. I want it to fly really well... I am seeing on the internet it seems like everyone is flying it with 2 strokes... Am I giving up much by putting in a 4 stroke with less power and more weight?

Cool, reviving a 7 year old thread!
Yes the OS will do just fine on the sabre47, i would try a few props to see what suites your flying style.. maybe a 13x6 will get you better performance then the 14x4 for example. I have not used a 2 stroke in a long time either!
enjoy
