Re: TOLEDO: Precision Aerobatics Katana MD

Friend of mine just ordered one from Atlanta Hobby. $500.00 with everything included for the power system. If his looks as good and is built well I'll be going for one as well.

Personally I'm getting tired of real foamie type performance. Lot's of fun to fly but a pain to trim to fly straight, and dropping like a brick when the power comes off. I'm flying an electric profile for kicks and it's a lot better than a foamie. If this Katana flies like a real airplane and maintains some kind of glide performance with good power to weight and wing areas it should be great.

I have one sitting on my workbench. This is one amazing piece of craftmanship, lots of carbon, very lightweight. I weighed all the parts out of the box including the AR7000, the EVO2170 LiPo, High Torque motor, APC prop and adapter, ESC - all of it -- 34.2oz. With a 500 sq-in wing - this plane flies like a giant.

Re: TOLEDO: Precision Aerobatics Katana MD

OK guys, I bought the Mango Katana MD Complete Combo from Atlanta Hobby's and I wanted to post my component weights - all weights in oz's

Fuse -- 6.0
TailGroup -- 1.3
WingR -- 3.8
WingL -- 3.8
Cowl&MM -- 2.2
All Hardware including CF Spar, wheel pants, landing gear -- 3.0
PA KMD Total -- 20.4 oz -

HiTech Servos -- 1.6
Extensions -- 0.1
EVO 2170 -- 6.2
AR7000 -- 0.5
Torque Motor -- 4.2
AUW Total -- 33oz

My wing loading if I don't screw up the final assy - 9.5 oz/sq-ft

The only thing I didn't bother to weigh this time was the APC Prop...

This airframe is insane.

Will an E-flite 480 system work in this aircraft. The 480 is one ounce less and how about a 1320 which is half the weight of the evo. That would even further reduce the weight loading. But the question is how much power loss woudl occure.

I assembled my plane one Saturday at work. This plane is sure built nice!! and comes with every thing needed but radio and rx when buying the package deal.
I haven't had a chance to fly it yet but I am sure it will be sweat, tomorrow, if weather holds I will give it a go. If it flies like I think it will, off to the hobby shop to buy a couple more batteries.
