All in all I think this is a great R/C find!!!
Thanks,

Being curious I looked into these and although the packs are lower priced than WrongWayRC's, this eBay vendor charges a substantially higher shipping fee....$17.50...ouch! But overall, Richard is only $1.50 cheaper so they're not too far apart.

Both use genuine A123 cells, both offer multiple configuration of cell packs, but WrongWayRC also offers a very wide variety of wiring configurations on every pack, as well as 1100mAh cells & packs.

Richard also offers ignition voltage reducers, chargers, plus several other products.

I just ordered (4) 1100mAh packs from Richard and shipping was only $2.90

I'll stick with Richard/WrongWayRC, but it IS good to have a backup supplier!
Thanks for alerting us.

Jim

I have been harvesting & building packs for quite some time now for my own use. Have not built a pack in a couple years. Used to buy the Dewalt DC9360 36V pack & harvest.

I am looking to build a few more packs.

Are the DC9360 packs still genuine A123 cells?

If others are currently harvesting, what packs are you pulling from?

The Ebayer has a fairly good price on his 2300 packs, but makes his $$ back on shipping. Personally I am not down for that type of business practice. But it IS nice to have a back up source.

EPBuddy is pretty good too. Lots o' choices. Just not the $17.80 shipping. That's just comical. I can't believe anybody would buy one.

Glad to see there are other positive experiences with this Ebay battery source. I ordered 3 packs to dilute the shipping a bit. Like many of you, I work quite a bit of hours so I have learned to use online shopping to the greatest extent possible. So far so good with this source.
Thanks,
Jim

I read somewhere that if you can see the bar code under the shrink wrap that they are fake. these seem to fit that criteria. Am I wrong?

Essintially yes.. The cells shown in the photo are pirate or "b" grade cells..
I think most need to know these differences..
The "B" grades are in fact geniune A123 systems cells. HOWEVER they are rejected cell from the QC line @ a123 systems.. They dont get thrown away rather sold in a third party market in china.. Hence SDS hobby life a123 battery's, and others that sell them as well..

The biggest note is the darker green shrink wrap...Look at the attachment for reference

I have some ready-made R/C packs as well as raw cells. I used to build my own packs just to ensure I had the real A123 cells. These new packs are in fact real A123 cells, and work perfectly with the FMA cell-pro charger!! Take a look at the pics. Here is a link to the Ebay website:

The customer rep is very responsive to question via Ebay, and through Skype. All in all I think this is a great R/C find!!!
Thanks,
Jim

- also considering a larger pack for my motorcycle, as they sell for larger applications too.
This is where I got the image

quick question about switching to A123. since A123 packs hold pretty constant voltage during their discharge, does that make telemetry rx voltage pretty useless?

Pretty much, but then once you have your ma. draw-per-flight number, you can concentrate on flying your plane rather than looking down at your TX.

If its the DX 8 you still have temp and RPM..Robotech is right, need to pay attention on battery consumption by how much you put back into it when you charge. Mine last a lot longer than I expected them too and running Spektrum receivers low voltage will cause a brown out.
