Big RV-8? Does it exist?

Hey all,

Has anyone ever seen plans or a kit for a big RV-8? I've seen plenty of RV-4s out there but I'd like to do a copy of my airplane for R/C..

How big are you seeking?

SlipstreamRC had a 30cc model.
Seagull had a 20cc model.

Bill Hemple explored doing a 50% but I dont think the project ever gained momentum.
Hostetler offers plans for a 35% RV4 and RV14, but I do not believe they offer a RV8.
AMR-RC started a really large RV8 project, but it too was cancelled: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/kit-...uilding-3.html

Seagull makes a great plane, but it does not quite satisfy the original poster's desire for a "big" RV... I have a feeling that anything under 30% is not going to be large enough to satisfy his itch.

I would suggest buying a projector, take the appropriate pics of yours, project them on a wall covered with paper and draw your own. You have one so you know where the formers, supports, firewall, etc. etc. is. And the wings should be even easier.
You could use the Hostetler RV4 plan as a guide for shapes.
I am doing one based on photos of a Pitts.

Since you're an actual owner any chance Vans would be willing to help with a reduced scale set of plans? Once you have the formers and stations the fuse would be easy to build, any of the wing cutters can do the wings and tail off the airfoil data. Only problematic areas would be the canopy and cowl.

Some reproduction shops can quite faithfully enlarge bigger plans for a reasonable fee.
I enlarged an old timer to 10+ feet

I had Kinko's enlarge a set of Taylorcraft plans from 1/4 scale to 1/3 scale. Easy peasy.

I can't imagine the cost of shrinking my plans from 1/1 scale down to 1/3 scale though.. Lol.

I'm going to get Quique's new RV-8 and refinish it into my scheme.. Should be pretty simple to do..
