Best way to blow up (enlarge) plans?

Is it best to scan the whole plan then enlarge it digitally? Can I scan them and do a CAD overlay and print CAD plans? New to this idea.

I'd be looking at taking a 40-60 size glow model and blowing it up to a 40% (with appropriate internal changes).

Suggestions or links to goos threads appreciated.

Dave

I'm hoping I can do a one-off Scale Aerobatics bird.

I tried this once with a Hall Bulldog, but then got tired of it because the line weights and widths also increase when you blow up the plans. So, it becomes a grey area as to where to take measurements from when your line widths are 1/8" or so wide on the blow-up.

The best way I have found is to convert the outline and critical structure into AutoCAD and then scale up in there and layout all of the structure from there (since line weights are a non-issue in CAD). You can use the original plans to take other measurements and just scale them up as you re-draw them.

I also started this on the Hughes H-1 once, but am saving that one for "some day".

Hi super Dave ,
Try looking for yella pages for some one has a
" large format printer - 36" to 48" inches wide .
Lenght does not matter , the paper comes off a roll.
Ask for :; dix, div ,AtuoCAD , DWG, Sketchup / Google , addobe ,cad ,blueprint , files names ....
If they can make blueprints , their printers are setup to do
A 1 to 1 aspect ratio ,
I took a set of plans and blew them up to get to make a 50% airplane plans

Hope this help .....
Later,
Mark K.
