Damn it.... I thought it said make sure to make a left and a right wing half. I like your set up better Max, makes for good lateral balance.

Max,
At first, I thought you accidently got a little hot melt glue under that Pacifica bottle, I was going to suggest using a heat gun to soften the glue to remove the bottle. I see that you have that under control and you were just hiding your mistake!

Your not the first to get one reversed, one of my customers came up with an simple fix. Use a plastic control horn over one of the hinges, these images will tell the story.

Mike, thank you for the recomendation, however I like to live in shame and will fly my beloved BAFY with the servo on top. And thanks for the hot glue debonding advice, I got the bottle off.

sometimes hot melt is not so hot

I was and still a fan of hot melt glue, but I have found a few issues with it. As Steve said, be careful in hot environments, it will soften up and servos will fall off.

During my prototyping of the YAKS I used hot melt exclusively, mostly for the ease of use. As summer came on, I noticed that servos, mounted with hot glue, were coming loose. I started ruffing/sanding the surface of the servo and wiped the Depron with some alcohol, that helped but not enough. Make sure that you bring some 5 or preferably 30 minute epoxy to the field for repairs.

The jury is still out on the best and easiest way to mount a servo to Depron. I have started doing it the way Pedro does on his foamies. A little masking tape around the servo, then glue it with 30 minute epoxy to the Depron. Making sure that you first wipe the Depron down with alcohol.

Mike, I just invented a new technique. Hot glue servo box. Put 2 overlapping beads across the entire servo overlapping in the middle. Who cares about weight. I love this stuff. What really bums me out is that shoe goo eats depron. That's my now second favorite adhesive.

Okay, I totally changed my mind 100% on this hot glue thing. It can kiss both cheeks. Hot glue sucks.

Snuck away for an hour earlier with Brett to fly the BAF and both wing servos popped out. But you coulda seen that coming from a mile away! A little tape and epoxy and we were back in the air. Fun foamy!! Even in the wind today!

Max, send that old junker of a glue gun my way. I will put it to good use...ha ha hahahaha hah a, I hot glued my servos in but also used strapping tape to hold them down. Never had a problem but will check them before each flight.... You can also use some extra depron and box around the servo with epoxy for a strong hold. Hope you got her down safe

MAX,
Looking good, does that BAF lock into a hover well enough for ya. How about those slow knife edge passes.

Don't throw that glue-gun away just yet. I'm going to post a thread on adhesives, "When and where to use them". Mostly on building foamies, but I'm thinking on adding some info on which glues to use when repairing wood ARF's.

Pretty windy today Mike, we grounded ourselfs. And thanks for the offer, but I'm going back to JBWeld as my primary adhesive of choice.

DJ, nice job on the graphics. I like the look of that glossy canopy. If you get some time, you might want to share your secrets on how you trimmed out the YAK, it really looks cool.

Hope your motor arrives soon!
