Is the rod a close fit to the piston, if not what keeps it from moving back and rubbing the crankcase.

Yes, Is the rod a close fit to the piston. In China, We call “piston positioning”. I will show you some pictures soon.

I would be interested in it,if a good responsible dealer would go out on a limb and happen to pick it up.
and only after seeing some flight reports about it.
it is a 70 single weighing 3.5 lbs. if I figured it rite.and built like a EME so said.
but we all seen these engines come and go.

I wish more of these engines would use the special bolt in the back of the crankpin to retain the rod and big end bearing .... like OS does on some of their engines. Would allow for lower end bearing replacement and would also locate the rod fore and aft.

I'm not sure I'm wild about those plastic discs limiting the rod movement. I know some engines used steel washers on the wristpin which were a disaster as they wore out releasing particles into the engine as they slowly went away.
