Re: New DL-55 and DL-111

Well if my two year old DL50 with Gawd knows how many hours on it and two major crashes can still swing a 22x8 Xoar 6850rpm I think the new DL's already have a track record. Same engines design from the same manufacturer just a little bigger. Nuf Said now I need to save a few more bucks for that 111.that's going in my new donor plane.

Re: New DL-55 and DL-111

So how does the DL 100 sound? Trying to find a video of it. I'm just wandering if they sound like a chainsaw. Never could get past that sound. I've only owned a couple of 3W's and never a 100cc. Now I am looking to purchase one and I'm so confused on what to buy now, I don't know what to do. I like the 3W 110, but at $1400 I don't know. I like the looks of the DA, but never owned one. I'm reading alot of good stuff about the DL's but I don't know if I want to take the chance. It's tempting at $680 though. I don't have deep pockets either, but I want good quality too that I'm not going to have to worry about performing everytime I go to the field or competition. I've seen a couple of adds on RCU for DLE 111. Is that the same as DL or someone different?

Thanks,

Keith

Here is a video of my DL-100. Doesn't sound any different then a DA.
Plenty of videos of each to heare the sound of a 100cc twin.
DL & DLE are one in the same.

i am sure these engines are tremendous. if they have the same success as the 50/100 predecesors they will be highly touted!

Same bore and stroke. How could it be a different displacement. What is different. Anyone know how they are getting 1/3 of a hp more? Carb? Ring?
The jug looks bigger in the pics but it could just be me.

I just watched the first 40 seconds of your video about 12 times. I can not believe you started a 10 horsepower engine without a tether of any kind. You could run yourself over. Any thing could happen. You could bump the throttle or the throttle channel could be reversed. Even a couple of clicks off idle and it is rolling at you.
If I missed something in the video I apologize but I don't want to see you get hurt. Hitch a rope around one of those table legs. Use some foam pipe insulation to keep from denting the wood. Leave nothing to chance.

It's there, you can see it when the plane pulls away.
I just didn't use it. Old video, old habbit.
Plane is always held when starting now.

Bore is increased on both engines.

Did DL also change the cylinders to keep the same mass to the cylinders, or just a bigger bore on the 50cc cylinders?

Re: New DL-55 and DL-111

After having pretty good luck with the DL-50 I decided to be a beta tester with the 55. Ordered from TBM Fri., got it yesterday, mounted it in my PAU Sukhoi last night and ran it for a couple minutes. I'll probably fly it this evening. Serial #00012 so I guess I'm one of the first.

Does the DL 55 throttle linkage match up to a DA 50? Does it match up on the DL111 to the DA 100? Do the DL's have the same Walbro carb as the DA's?

My DL 50 came with a Walbro although it is a different number than DA's which I hear is good thing something about matching the engine/displacement better.

The DL 100 does not come with Walbro. Don't know about the 55/111's.

Pretty sure on the 50's the linkage is the same.
