I don't understand why the main gear is mounted like that with lock nuts on the fuse. Its the same on my 50cc sbach, and it was a real pain to get em in there and on, with can installed no getting to it. I epoxied a block of ply to the aluminum, drilled it and installed blind nuts, now i can remove my gear in a matter of minutes.

Hi Guys,
I got my reply from Tony @ Pilot regarding the canister mounts and he advised the canister ready version has only been in production for 1 month, Therefore my local distributor would not have the new version, and mine is the previous version. I did clarify with the distributor and they advised it was the current version before i purchased, Even listed "Canister room ready" on there webpage. I am just getting confirmation from Tony, But it looks like mine is not the canister tunnel version which i am not happy about as i have a can for it and was what i purchased & was expecting, So i may need to look at a pitts muffler, But before that I will go back to the Local distributor and see what we can work out. Also i noticed my wheels appear to be the old style not the new 5 spoke type? Im loving the Edge, But it would have been nice to know from the distributor if it was not the current canister version they had listed. |

Looks as though theres plenty space to install a canister, you can purchase the mounts, chief aircraft I believe has em in us. The wooden ones. Theres also some fancy carbon ones, overkill n over weight imo.

The mounts that would work best would be something like the tbm ones that uses O rings, or secraft ones. But there $$$ |

So moving along with the build, My aim for tomorrow is to convert the dle to rear carb, Mount the wheel pants and tail wheel, Glue in the rudder, Test fit the engine and install ignition. If time permits may get onto the cowl venting.
Just a question, What are the RTF weight Minus fuel are you guys getting, I see its 11.?lb on the pilot website, Will it be a floater at the weight or does it really need to be around 10-10.5lb? |

Ok So i got the motor converted and test mounted it, Seams ill need to move it out about 3mm to clear the cowl. But otherwise it lines up nicely - Couldn't help but stick the prop and spinner on for a pic
I also added a pic of the inside of a 30, For those who were wondering what is like inside and showing side and rear crankcase halfs. I used a aviation grade sealant good for gas to seal up the case. I Also gave all the intake parts a resurface to ensure great sealing on all parts - Surprised there was a few low spots on each item. Also Finished of the Gear as well, This was a little fiddly as the holes for the bolts for the wheel pants were drilled up high on the gear near the bend, So once you did up the pant it would pull up a little, But i got around it. Hope to Epoxy in the horns and rudder tomorrow + install Fuel dot and tank. Looking at placing my order with Da Aust for my Servos and other finishing items in the comming day or two - And Ordering the Life batteries Pack from Redwing. |

Little bit more progress today, Got the tank set-up and installed, Stared to cut out the film as required for cooling, Also for the stab servos as well (Not sure if ill do the other cooling slots further down)
Got the JEM Dot Fuel dot it, Its a nice piece. Also worked out that i need 4mm spaces for the motor to sit out correctly to clear the cowl. Secraft do nice spaces at this size. Put the stabs on, Looks like i need to cut about 1/4 inch of the tube as its a little long. Will get the rudder fitted tomorrow and start fitting the surface horns. |

But if still need to buy Mounts etc, It will be cheaper to get a pitts muffler. I also worked out that the can dump may need to exit where the first sett of vent outlets are, but once i space the engine out wit the spaces it may be ok, its just the flex header is a small as i can get it, Would not be and issue if i were to make a Ks header. |

It flies very light, very floaty for sure. Harriers are effortless and locks into a hover with ease. I found the marked CG made the plane feel a little tail heavy on landing and especially knife edge, would pull to the gear pretty bad. So I moved the battery forward and it felt better.
