I've had comp arfs and Krills and I prefer Krill. If there is a model I would never buy again is the comp arf Edge as it is very heavy! With that said Comp arf does make quality aircraft.

The tails on my Krill weigh 2oz more each than the equivalent CARF tails. 4oz at the tail is 16 in the nose!

I did manage to drop a pound by removing the plastic trays and replacing the brass hinge pins with CF.

Maybe Krill and CARF could meet up with the molded sailplane builders in CZ and really make a masterpiece! The molded sailplanes are unbelievably strong and super light.

I think CARF is on the right track with the new 40% extra 330LX. weigh reduction and mass centralization was their goal

Yea. That thing is awesome, Kinda reminds me of the old school planes I used to build. All servos together with long flexy pushrods!

I was referring to the way planes were built (not assembled) prior to locating servos near the control surfaces.
Big, low powered servos with wood dowels and wire pushrods. Not exactly precision. That new CARF is the same concept but the technology now makes it possible.

My personal input between a Carf and a Krill having experience assembling both is that they both have there good points and bad points. The skin on the Krill is tougher and less prone to the dents you can get in a Carf. The Carf has the up side when it comes to seams in the fuselage in the newer airplanes. Krills still have a nasty seam in the top and Carf has been removing them. Carf is a bit easier to assemble unless the canopy needs to be installed in the hatch, that can be tricky, but there are several good ways to do it.

Krill has some odd ideas on how to do things like installing the aileron servos in the 39% Ultimate. They want you to use 2 sided tape..... I passed on that idea.

One other thing, Carf changed how the wings are done on the 35% Edge a while back and they now have the skin hinge aileron which is supposed to be lighter and now use 2 servos in each wing.

Also my flying buddies everyday airplane is a Carf 35% Extra 330SC with a DA120 and Pro Flow cans that needed no balance weight at all. The rudder servo is mounted as far forward as we could get it and all the batteries are right behind the engine dome. It's lighter than my Hangar 9 Extra 300X with a 120 and cans that needed 12 ounces bolted to the firewall to balance and weighs 30.25 pounds.

Yes mine didnt get The tape in The wings either. I bourght The carbon servo mounts from Florian schambeck instead used for large scale gliders. The hold up very well.

One of these days I will finish this Krill Ultimate. I still need to paint the wings and stabs then I can finish assembling it.
