Gooney Bird

Last time I messed with round engines was back in A&P school, finally got to flip the switch after 5 years of turbo-pratts! The man to my left is somewhat of a legend in round motors, and after hes finished ho-slappin me I might have a type....maybe. After flying the turbine 3, getting into the piston was....quiet!

Re: Gooney Bird

Well I finally Got typed, did the DC-3 in the morning and then the BT-67 in the evening. long day. My copilot asked the examiner if he wanted to fly the BT-67 after we were done with the checkride, he hopped in and good times were had by all! We've got some pics but they got temporarily misplaced after the celebration dinner..... If anyone of you ever want to get a PIC or an SIC type in the DC-3, or just fly one around, I know of a great outfit in southern Florida which has a nice plane. Just let me know!

sorry for the late reply, yes im working the oil spill. the piston-3 type is running about 15K plus right now, if you need further info you can PM me and ill give you the phone number. the BT-67 type is going for around 28K and up, depending on the type of ground training and so-on. here are some pics of us coming back from a spray run a few days ago.

Good looking pics. thanks for the info. I leave on monday to go back down to MS to get back working on the oil-spill. I'm one of the guys who is flying the king-air spottter planes for the C-130 crew. But from what a friend of mine who is there now is saying, there isn't much spraying going on.

Here is the link to the piston DC-3 guys down in florida, they are some of the nicest guys youll meet. You could get a type in a DC-3, DC-4, DC-6 or a big bad long dong DC-7 with turbo compounds!!
