Re: New foamy plans!

I made a SU-YAK from the plans posted by Jocke. The plane is really great. It is rock solid and very crisp in its responses. He got a hard time because his designs are similar to others. The plane was clearly inspired by the SUltimate but it has important differences. I have a SUltimate and made a comparison. Jocke's plane is shorter and the control surfaces are shaped differently. One of the fun thing about foamys is the ability to tinker with a plane's design to see what happens. That is what Leadfeather did to arrive at his Yak55.

Mine is made from 6mm 1.9lb EPP with a rewound 1500Kv BW, 18 amp Esc, Corona 72Hz receiver, HS65 servo for ailerons and HS55 servos for rudder and elevator. It weighs about 7.5oz without battery.I use a 460Mah battery. I highly recommend this plane.

Hi Joakim
Thanks for publishing these drawings. Sukhoi dont seem to mind people copying their designs. I might modify the Su-Yak to look more like the Su 29KS.

Orel,
You talkin to me? If so, I used Welders glue to join the top and bottom parts of the fuselage and hot glue to secure the carbon fiber in the wing, elevator and bracing. The hinges were made with Welders as well. I wrecked my plane to death but it was one of my favorites. Its on the build list as soon as I finish some other projects.
I also built a Futana, one of Jocke's other designs. It is also a great design. Build one and you'll enjoy it.

Most Sukhoi's do. Theres alot of SU-29 AM designs that have come out lately that look like an exact copy of the SUlt.
