I got the Nitroplanes 69" Yak 54 that turns magically into a 72" when it arrives. It has short landing gear, and that needs to be moved forward about 3' or so! it's under the CG right now... So I want to know if I can prop it to get up to 2700w, like it is rated for, out of a 20" prop.
WELL let me tell you something bro... DO NOT BUY THESE these things are chinese pieces of crud andt dont even say monster power on the motor it says "MOSTER POWER" also, a power 10 "moster power" draws 62 amps with a 10-4.7 prop! thats insane! instead of buying that and an esc to smoke, try buying a decent e-flite electric motor or a "hacker" electric motor that wont overamp the esc.

p.s. nothing agianst all of hobbypartz, batteries and servos are best you can get for your money!
just dont buy moster power

All have been rock solid and I will continue to purchase them
THE only issue I've had was to try and find a suitable tru turn or dave brown mounting nut for the 110 and 160 in order to secure the spinner on.

I've seen a few others who have just tapped the supplied prop adapter for a 4/40 thread.
a chinese asian sister of chinese?

Something must have been seriously wrong with it to pull 62 amps? What indications did it give when it smoked the speed control??? What was your setup? I have 2 of the larger ones and have seen 4- 5 others of various sizes run flawlessly..

So did you get the clone of a clone?
Mine says Monster Power .

You sound bitter.

Mine has (had) developed a loose magnet. I fixed it with permanent Locktite.

The 1.60 continues to kick-@$$. I've been running it down around it's max. I've had a 20 x 8 on it for much of the late summer and all fall. It even went to NEAT Fair in Sept.

I have a brand NIB Monster .10 in my shop , maybe I'll try that amp test.....

Re: Exceed Monster motors.

I would be willing to bet you just made the mistake a lot of people do with these motors. You assumed thescrew that hold the 'X' mount on won't touch anything in the motor. Almost alway hit a winding or the insulation of one of the 3 leads when you put it together. I always check these closely.

About 1/2 hour ago I tested my Monster Power .10. I had to trim 2 of the X-mount screw as they were too long. The motor drew 33 amps on a 10 X 4.5 prop and 3S 2100.

Try a different setting on the timing.

You didn't say what brand of batteries, the C rating or how old they are. It's possible when you goose the throttle that it is going down to the low voltage cutoff point. Did you try changing the switching frequency to 16 khz?
I use a 100 amp HV esc and 10S 4000 and 10S 4900. It will make a tiny very short screech if I really gun it. I am using a 20 x 10 APC electric prop.

What is the low voltage cutoff set to?

yup, not the motors fault.
timing issues with the esc.

what esc are you using?
