The lower pic is definitely not the TOC. the plane in the first pix was blown up from the 36% aeroworks plane. in addition to enlarging the scale, billy also enlarged the stab area, but it was essentially a scratch built airplane - it later became a kit. he placed a respectable 10th with it in his first TOC. The second is a 39% Aeroworks 540T - I know that one year there was an issue with his wings so he did not fly it.

The 'issue' with his wings if I remember correctly was someone broke into his truck and stole the wings the night before the TOC started.

When we searched the area around his truck all we could find were sandal

Here is something you all may find interesting, I received this 80” span Skybolt many years ago from a gentleman named Ralph Brogdon, Ralph received it from a fellow named Tony Mangold. To my understanding it was sold through an old company named Precision Built,
and Ralph was heavily involved with them. Anyway it dates back close to the 1988 TOC, the canopy is wrapped in clear plastic and news paper that dates 1999. The glasswork is very nicely done and the drawings are all blue lines. I have been conversing with Whiplash 48 and he suggested I post this on on this thread. So hear is a picture of what I have. If anyone has more information please post.

Thanks,

Bob

Does anybody know who manufactured the kit? I have always wondered.

That's what Bill told me. His backup radio, and spare 3W-140 were missing as well. All I know for sure is he wound up borrowing (I think) Chris Lakin's Carden Edge 540.
