Tim, would you comment on the relative power of the MVVS IFS 30 SP and the Evo 33cc?

Thanks....

anyone else running these engines. I like the single bolt crank and it's cheaper than the OS 33

Ah I've not purchased a Evo 33 yet. I went and bought a MVVS 58 IFS PS instead

The MVVS 30 is pretty much on par with some of the 33's. I like it so much I may rather get another and not bother with the Evo.

Hm, seems to be no U.S. distributor of MVVS, except Esprit for electric sailplane motors.

Their web page only shows the larger engines but if you call them you might find they can get anything.

We have done a lot of testing with the MVVS 30 and the two engines are very comparable with a very slight edge to the 33cc (as would be expected with larger displacement). Cost is a different story.

I would bet that the trademark on the use of mvvs name in the us has expired and now they can be imported again. Hopefully a good distributor will pick up the whole line of their products and sellthem at a decent price.

What 3 blade prop do you guys recommend for the Evolution 33gx engine? I am running a Biela 17x10 3 blade and I'm hitting 6k rpms at mid range and 6.1k rpms at full. The engine is still pretty new and I'm running 32:1 fuel, but I would have expected a bit more...maybe I need to stick with the 18x8 2 blade but I really like the looks of the Biela 3 blade.

I would try a 17 x 8 three blade. Usually dropping the diameter by an inch and leaving the pitch the same will provide a similar load factor on the engine - and a similar rpm reading.

Does anybody know the specific dimensions of the the crank key ( woodruff key) used to lock the thrust washer to the crank on this engine?

Horizon does not have any and the engine is useless with out one. I have called them a few time and even though they said the be back to me they have remained curiously silent.

The part is shown on the the exploded view in the engine manual and called KEY.

Any help would be appreciated.
